So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I have finally seen it. Slightly soggy now.

I remain soggy to this day. I don't get to see it again until Friday, sadly.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Friends of ours are getting married Saturday, and because they were determined to DIY damn near everything, they haven't had any free time to see Endgame yet. But they have tickets for Sunday. Yup, they're getting married Saturday and seeing Endgame the next day. Respect.

I did warn them that after getting married and then watching Endgame, they may have emotional overload, but they're fine with that.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I made a meme with Nebula, I don't think it's spoilery, but I will take opinions.

Hey. New board.

Have nothing to add. Liked it a lot! Very good closure. Felt a little RotK to me in that I am not sure I will want to rewatch it a lot as I feel the closure will just feel slow on rewatch, but it was a good ending. Though I tend to agree with lots here that the time travel plot is always risky and full of holes.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

On that point, one thing I recall thinking as it was happening in the movie was that Thanos blowing up the quantum tunnel and the spare in Scott's van wasn't really an obstacle. The Avengers had the gauntlet with the Time Stone. All they had to do was get it to Strange or Wong (or another master magician who knew how to use it; apparently every sorcerer on earth showed up to that fight) and have them disperse the stones to their proper points in the diverged timelines.

I suppose there's a chance Thanos could have eventually rebuilt a quantum tunnel to try and recover them, but it looked to me like his forces were being routed, and between Captain Marvel, Thor, the Scarlet Witch, and a Mjolnir-wielding Cap I'd say he was personally outmatched without the gauntlet.

Heh. Nice, DCJ!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Good one, dcj!

I'm basically just agreeing with everyone.

So since Strange said there was only one timeline in which they won, does that apply to the timelines they created, like where Loki is running amok with the space stone, AFTER he looked at all the possible timelines? Did he see even the ones that were created later?

brillig

That would be horrible to have to look at all the possible sub-timelines of the other possible timelines.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I think, and bear with me as I had an early AF meeting... that it would not apply to those timelines (but that he saw the timelines get created and recognized that for all present versions of people relevant to that particular battle, they were not in play).

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Finally Endgame today. Made it through without a bathroom break though I was pretty much out of my seat the instant the credits rolled since I knew there wasn't a scene after the credits.

I really, really enjoyed it. I went in thinking Steve was going to die and was pleasantly surprised when he actually got a happy ending with Peggy instead.

I am rather sad about losing Natasha. Would have much rather lost Clint. He was very much broken and while he's got his family back he also has 5 years worth of memories of him slaughtering the "unworthy" so he's got some issues to work through.

Speaking of worthiness I literally cheered out loud when Steve started wielding Mjolnir.

All in it felt like a fitting closure to our original heroes and their stories, even if Natasha got seriously short-changed and also missed out on the lovely badass powershot with the rest of the Marvel ladies.
