Oh, I'd forgotten about the metal itself being toxic, I was thinking he had somehow absorbed the mist.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I love the Foggy guy, and find him compelling, but I sometimes do weird things where I make people better in my head and don't notice (see Katie Holmes/Joey Potter).

They did such a good job with Vincent D'onofrio's costumes- all the open collars and beautiful rolls on the collars making his neck look huge.

I agree, though, we need MORE Rosario Dawson! She was great! I weirdly can't think of a single thing she was in except Rent, and I briefly thought she was the actress who played Kendra on Buffy, and just she got much, much better

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I need to marathon Daredevil, but I'll be at a convention all weekend. Maybe Monday, I should be done noon-ish or early afternoon.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Wow, SO in the wrong thread.

OK, re: Ultron--who else is irked by Joss' apparent disregard for the characterizations established by Tony and Steve's standalone movies? Tony blew up all his suits, established he could kick ass without them, and found a way to cope with his PTSD--no, no, he built a new army and is a danger to everyone around him! I can't pin down the differences between Winter Soldier Steve and Ultron Steve, but he did not feel like the same guy.

The jokes mostly felt forced, like in the first Avengers movie. ("He's adopted?" always lands like a lead balloon of offensiveness.)

I know the studio had certain beats that needed to be hit, but it would have been nice if it seemed Joss had seen even a plot summary of IM3. Two lines could have done it: "I thought you blew up all the suits." "Well, the world keeps wanting to blow itself up, too, so . . ."

And what was the purpose of the anti-Iron Man graffiti at the beginning? It's like they just wanted to establish Tony as a villain without showing any reason why. People say Joss has a crush on Tony, but it's more like he sees Tony as a convenient scapegoat.

In a more general way, I've always been surprised that the general reaction to mutants was fear and hatred. Where are the groupies? The cosplayers? Granted, I last read comics in the 90s, so I may have missed something.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

That seemed odd at first to me, but was explained later when the twins talk to Ultron about their hatred of Tony. Their country was wracked by a war and many of the weapons used had the Stark Industries logo on them. So the twins (and many in the country, apparently) at least partially blame Tony for all the death and destruction.

I do agree that there was no real acknowledgment of the events of IM3. I didn't find any real issue with anyone's behavior, though. I keep hearing there's ridiculous amount of deleted scenes that will be on the Blu-ray, so it will be interesting to see what hit the cutting room floor.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

So I'm not the only one who found the "language" running joke to be forced and annoying. My biggest complaint was too many "witty" quips and not enough character-revealing conversation. There was a lot of shallow meaningless dialogue that seemed to be there to entertain the brainless, and not enough character service.

Steve left me cold. I feel like I'm being let down by my movie boyfriends. I still don't get what Scarlet Witch's spell-vision on him was supposed to accomplish, what havoc it should have wrought.

I thought MR was fantastic, and he had great material to work with, and while I didn't dig the existence of a Hawkeye family, I liked seeing him fleshed out more, and he too got some good character beats. Especially that resigned sigh near the end. Which maybe wouldn't have been as powerful without the family waiting for him.
