I think he was trying not to assign anything to an arbitrary future date in case Infinity War takes place definitively in the present day.

Yeah, there was some stuff happening in 2018 that I would have pegged at 2016-17. But, eh, no big.
I hope they're not putting all the funniest lines in the trailer.
"So Dark. Are you sure you're not from the DC Universe?"
Or just putting in stuff that only appears in the trailers.
I actually like it when they put jokes in the trailer that aren't in the movie. Pique my interest without spoiling some of the best bits? Go for it!
Well, that was a surprisingly bloody way to resolve that plot line on AoS.
I'm dying over here waiting for the early (spoiler-free) reviews of Infinity War. (The press embargo is lifted today, IIRC. t edit No, I think it's tomorrow. Sheesh, I am IMPATIENT.)
I mean, yeah, I'm also dying waiting for the movie itself, but (spoiler-free) reviews would at least get me through this long-ass week. (I can't see it until Saturday afternoon, so I'm going to have to stay off the damn internet, except for here, starting on Thursday. I really don't want to be spoiled for this one.)
If I heard correctly, the first screening of the whole film anywhere will be tonight's red carpet premiere. Which I will be streaming. Marvel's in-house red carpet productions tend to be better than typical cable TV red carpet shows. (It helps that they hire nerds who are actual fans). I'm hoping it will help me get through until Thursday.
I think the only thing my brother and I have texted about for the last 2 weeks is wild-ass speculation about what's going to happen in the movie. Including but not limited to: everyone is a Skrull!; MODOK; Yondu isn't really dead; the Fantastic 4 show up and Cap looks REALLY uncomfortable around Johnny Storm; awkward cameo by Edward Norton; Stan Lee gets to be the one to kill Thanos.
Isn't it obvious from the comics who gets to take out Thanos? (Also MODOK)
