I did, too. It did suffer from having a lot of parts to set up. Since most of the back story appears to be coming from Nemesis and the reboot, two movies that I've never been interested in watching a second time, I was struggling try to remember if I knew about a supernova in the Romulus system. Fortunately, there are plot summaries online. It took me a second to figure out that his retainers must be Romulan and not Vulcan. The other thing that annoyed is that the Mars thing is something that happens in one of the Short Trek shorts, but it's one I haven't seen yet. (This is something that annoyed me about the second season of Discovery as well, although on the whole I really liked it.)
Picard's dressing down of the FNN interviewer (Fox News Network still exists in the 24th century? Yeesh.) was awesome.
I loved it. I'm going to rewatch it today, and I want more now.
Very happy with Picard so far! I was a little concerned going in because I don't think I ever watched Nemesis and I don't really remember Insurrection (possibly I haven't watched it all the way through) and I suspected I would be missing a lot of backstory but it seems fine, they're giving me what I need to know.
To be fair, I would probably be happy with an hour a week of Jean-Luc puttering around his vineyard with Number One (that cracks me up every time he says it), but I'm definitely invested in the mystery and intrigued by the apparent Borg cube
The Borg cube made me gasp. I really want to rewatch all of TNG and the movies, but I don't think that is happening anytime soon. Has anyone watched the Star Trek cartoon? Is it appropriate to watch with ltc? I just thought I'd ask while I have All Access.
Is it appropriate to watch with ltc?
The Star Trek animated series originally aired on Saturday morning during the 1970s, when Saturday morning cartoons were policed by parents organizations that were hypersensitive about violence in cartoons.
So, yes.
I had forgotten some of the deep canon dives, like that the Romulan sun going nova kicked off the AOS movie timeline, or that the guy Allison Pill was talking about was the guy trying to study Data in "The Measure of a Man."
Honestly, I'd kind of forgotten that Data died in the last movie.
The after show hosted by Wil Wheaton is worth it if only for pointing out some of the call backs.
