Hey. New board.

I also disliked Fleabag. Dead to Me was interesting but after two eps I don't know if I want to watch more. The comedy doesn't blend well with the creepy for me.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I didn't like what I saw of Fleabag, either. I want to like and continue watching Dead to Me, mostly because of Christina Applegate, but it ain't happening. The big secret at the center of the story is just a little too awful for me. I really dislike Linda Cardellini's character.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Joining the "really really really really loved Fleabag" club. Season 2 is one of the smartest, honest, brilliant written and heartbreaking (of all kinds) that I've watched in a long while. It's amazing in how many ways you can show and discuss love in just 6 episodes.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I found Fleabag S1 occasionally a tough seat, since she is so messed up and broken and self-destructive. If this was an hour-long drama, I'd have had more trouble with it, I think. For those who are having trouble with getting past how abrasive she is, I'd recommend checking out episode 4 of season 1 -- the one set in the silent retreat, which was probably my favourite of the season and really highlights the main character's relationship with her sister (and which I think is the beating heart of the show). Not that anyone needs to keep watching anything they don't enjoy.

S1 is kind of a perfect set-up for S2 though, where Fleabag has her shit together slightly better (well, other than the whole falling in love with a Catholic priest thing). I found the S2 arc both heartbreaking and strangely hopeful at the end.

Full confession: I didn't get started on the series until I heard chatters about the main character romancing a priest, hahaha. Stupid Catholic education that warped my psyche forever! Suffice it to say, the whole thing was Extremely My Shit.

What is even happening?

I just screened the Good Omens pilot. I haven't read the book, but it's one of those works I'm familiar enough with, thanks to fandom.

I found it delightful. I'll definitely check out the rest of the season. If you have Amazon Prime, I think the pilot is at least worth a look. I can't speak to its faithfulness to the books, but going in cold, I completely enjoyed it.

It drops tomorrow, that is May 31st. I'm never sure what time Amazon shows are released but it might be just after midnight.

Things you might care about:

There's narration by God (Frances McDormand). I thought it was fun, rather than intrusive.

There is CGI and some of it is obvious, but I think it works.

It has a really interesting look -- whimsical and in keeping with the tone. Douglas MacKinnon directed, who has helmed several episodes of Doctor Who, a few Outlander episodes, and Sherlock: The Abominable Bride (the Victorian episode).

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I just screened the Good Omens pilot.

I totally forgot that drops tomorrow! I cannot freaking WAIT to see it! I just re-read it earlier this month in preparation.

What is even happening?

Just saw Neil Gaiman say on Twitter that all six episodes are already on Prime, at least in the US, Spain, Brazil, and probably other countries, but I stopped scrolling his Twitter [link] so I could tell you. Go enjoy it, Buffistas.

What is even happening?

Confirmation: Good Omens has already dropped to Amazon in the US.

I'm watching ep 2 on my TV, which I prefer to watching on the computer. I've had access to the screener for a while. If only I'd procrastinated another couple of hours.

Teppy, I hope you post about it after you watch. I'm interested to see what you think.

Hey. New board.

I will be watching that pilot tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!

Narration is good. The book has a voice that will work well as narration.
