My heart keeps growing many sizes just looking at little LGBTQ young'uns all over the internet freaking out with happiness that they were finally getting a show where it wasn't just teased and hinted at without becoming canon, where the showrunners didn't make barely-veiled promises and then shrug and say, "Oops, well, you've always got your fanfic, kids," where it was just matter-of-fact straight up the entire plot and driving force and reason the show even existed. They're so happy! I'm so happy for them! And also so happy that it's just so fucking great and heartfelt and deeply romantic and, while being queer as it can possibly be, also totally inclusively welcoming and open to absolutely anyone who wants to fall for it.

I too watched in a day. On Easter. Where I also spent time with family and watched three hours of Columbo.

It is one of those shows where I am both in love with it, and the story, and everything, and in awe of the craft. I am inside it, and yet admiring it. I can’t tumblr, so I am missing most discussion (tumblr discussion doesn’t feel like a back and forth to me, so more just reading).

With regard to Lucius’s state, remember I was the one who was convinced for at least a day after Season 5 of Buffy that they would continue Buffy without BUFFY!

I keep trying to pick a favorite crew member, and I just love them all. I love how Black Pete sort of continues to be terrible and boastful, but sweet with Lucius. I do just love Lucius (although why he had an inexplicably different shirt in one episode near the end confuses me). Olu is just sort of perfection. I would keep forgetting about Frenchie for a minute, and then, there he was- doing something interesting.

And MR. BUTTONS- I can’t believe Calico Jack killed his gull friend. And I wanted Olivia (the gull wife/girlfriend) to peck him to death! (He sort of reminds me of Richardson from Deadwood, but smarter).

That is a big cast of characters, and they did a good job!

Not slashy fanart. Just beautifully queer as fuck fanart. Now I'm crying again, because for all the shit fandom has both seen and had to answer for over the years, my god, this time we got the win.

On rewatching, I'm also becoming fond of Fang (Izzy's portly white-bearded henchman who dimples up and gets all flustered when Lucius asks if anyone has ever told him he has lovely cheekbones (and who cried about having to put down Mrs. Pitts, because "we go to different heavens!"). He's all gruffly generic snarling-henchman in the beginning, but the longer he's on the Revenge the more of a soft doting utter elder muffin he becomes.

I love that all the other humans call him Buttons, but when we got a peek at the gull-to-human subtitles we saw that Karl and Olivia know him as Nathaniel.

Yes! And I do love that Stede calls him “Mr. Buttons” and everyone else just “Buttons”.

I also love Fang. The different heavens thing kills me!

I think Frenchie is my favorite crew member. Or Oluwande. Can't decide! I love Frenchie's combo of goofball and deadpan, plus his musical talents, and Olu is definitely the kindest and most responsible. I hope he gets to captain his own ship someday, if he wants to.

I just realized Buttons reminds me of Richardson in Deadwood, for Deadwood watchers.

I think the actual best humans are probably Olu and Frenchie. Not sure of my favorite, still.

Roach has some great moments too. I’ve watched him bounce that sandwich off Izzy’s forehead like 19 times, and I love when Lucius and his dead finger flee he leans out his little half window calling, “It was only a dream, come back!”

Ugh, someone on Twitter pointed out that with his last actions Ed not only went full-bore Blackbeard but went out of his way to specifically destroy the remaining happy couples. Two people dumped on an island, with their partners either pitched overboard or imprisoned under armed guard.
