Hey, all, popping in for a moment.
So I am going to Jamaica in September. We will be in Negril; I don't even know if ita's family has a headstone, but if so, I imagine it's close to Kingston maybe, and we're not traveling there.
I wasn't superclose to ita, but I liked and admired her enormously. I plan on taking a space out of an evening to have a quiet moment to honor her.
I don't know if any Buffistas have been to Jamaica since she passed, but if anyone has a candle, an object, or words of their own I can be a voice for, I'm planning on taking time to remember her and I would be honored to carry them when I go.
I'll be thinking of her fondly and wistfully the whole time anyway.
good for you for going...seem to remember it's been on your list for some time.
Just went over to Goodreads to mark myself as re-reading Seanan's
Every Heart a Doorway.
Glancing through the many buffistas who've read it, I see Ginger marked it "To Read". Gutpunch.
Tonight's John Oliver is all about racial and gender bias in medicine.
It's very funny, but hard to laugh at.
So who all was seriously jarred by Facebook memories feeding them a big old square of pink gingham with the information that it was five years ago?
My FB memories hit me with the picture I posted of ita getting her custom action figure at the LA F2F, and that was a gut punch.
Also: how the FUCK has it been 5 years.
I wasn't going to look at the memories today because I'm missing vermont and cold weather again and didn't want to feel that and then I thought "well I'll see what else happened"
And saw my post about ita. AND the first person who commented on it was my Mom's best friend who died last year.
Yeah. 5 years, how can that be?
