ita's thread

A place where we can talk about ita, miss ita, and share information about memorials. The hugging started over here in Natter.

Thrive to spite them

When I postd it I felt like it needed polishing because it felt a little rough but maybe the roughness is a good thing.

Of course you can print it out! I'd be honored.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Stupid moment of being blindsided by missing:

Last night Emmett was ahemming the Warriors game on his laptop; as is usual for a lot of streaming games, it came with commercial interruptions that were both frequent and the same two or three ads over and over. One of them was for something I don't even recall, but the conceit of the ad was that some guy really wants to do karaoke all the time, and his go-to piece is "Carry On, My Wayward Son."

I never saw or heard the reference in its original context, am not attached to either the original or the fannish source, and literally know nothing about it except that it has weight and meaning to ita and that the O-deckers used it as a low-key tribute to her, but that's all I needed to get completely distraught by the time the ad ran for the fourth or fifth time (and I think it ran at least four more times after that). I want her back; I want the old world back, the one with her in it. This world is stupid.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I'm the exact same way, not being an SPN watcher, but every time I hear it, I tear up. Every time.

And I watch so many CW shows that I see SPN commercials kind of frequently, and every damn one is a gutpunch.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

LinkedIn is always suggesting I need to reconnect with her.

It's a gut punch seeing her face come up on screen out of the blue.

Always Anti-fascist!

We'd love to, Linkedin, but I think that's a service you can't provide.

Our wings are not tired.

JZ why was he ahemming the game when it was on abc? I know you guys went cable free but don't you have an antenna to get OTA network stuff? Or have they scrambled OTA network stuff too?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I know you guys went cable free but don't you have an antenna to get OTA network stuff?

We can't pick up any broadcast stuff in the shadow of Parnassus Heights. I think we can sort of pick up one broadcast channel.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Things I have done today that express my missing of ita:

  • enjoyed a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and confirmed it is still my One True Coffee
  • cried a little while watching a video of women who were running a half marathon
  • made a recipe for curry from her notebook.

I substituted every ingredient except the peanut butter (including substituting goat for chicken which was ever my plan). It came out great, would make again.

Swouncing

askye, thank you for sharing it. It was lovely.

I want her back; I want the old world back, the one with her in it. This world is stupid.

Yesterday we met with one of PiBoy's kindergarden friends, and her brother, about a year and a half older than them, so almost six years old. Their mother just picked him up from a Krav Maga class for kids that he's taking. He was still wearing the class' clothes, and was thrilled, in a state of such pure joy, from all he's just learned, I couldn't help but feel a little of that joy, so obviously immediately I wanted to e-mail ita and tell her about it.

The DH thinks about having PiBoy take this Krav Maga class next year, when he's old enough to start. And this world is so wrong for ita not being here to be happy about the things she loved being important for new people.
