'Beneath You'

ita's thread

A place where we can talk about ita, miss ita, and share information about memorials. The hugging started over here in Natter.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

It's just an idea being bandied about; if it were to be seriously pondered, I would do an investigation to see if it were plausible and report back on what would be required.

I know it would be a huge undertaking and probably a year (at least) in the doing.

And honestly, no one convinces me to do anything; I'm a planner, so I would do a careful prelim to see if it were doable IRL.

(I'm worried about tone; I don't want to sound snotty or anything...but isn't taking a casual idea and making something crazy into something doable what ita did, with everyone helping? I don't know if this is doable, or even, er, want-to-do-able, but aren't we the people with the little ideas that turn into something great? But, like I said, I would never consider it without seriously looking at all the angles. It WOULD be a huge undertaking.)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

You'd probably have to get some kind of permission from the krav folks, though. And honestly, insurance for an event where people are punching and kicking things would probably be ridiculous.

Affiliating with the local krav crew could eliminate both of these concerns.

Our wings are not tired.

I don't know whether or not this is a realistic notion, but I do recall Strix and Sophia putting together the first F2F in Chicago, where neither of them lived. That was some impressive accomplishment.

Being the logistics coordinator for the Great Peace March forged me in the fire of "if you come, it will be built."

This can totally be done.

Marshaling the will, resources and energy is something else entirely.

I'm totally on board as part of the exploratory committee, wherever it may go.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I feel like this is now the thread to report instances of kicking ass. In that spirit, and in ita's, on Saturday not only did I participate in a "Town Hall Forum" meeting with local state Representatives and a state Senator, but also the coordinators had me speak first because they knew I'd done well testifying before the state legislature's Aging and Long Term Care committee and could handle the nerves of speaking first. So I did. Originally I had planned to give the same little speech I'd used before, but realized that one of the Reps actually chaired that committee meeting and had already heard it. This time, I gave a couple of anecdotes about the difference that knowledge and experience makes and asked them to support a rate increase so that more of my coworkers can afford to stick around long enough to gain more knowledge and experience.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Tone aside, "what ita would have" aside, I'm with Kat. You need lots of boots on the ground for something like this and, well, Not It.

Always Anti-fascist!

Good for you, WS. Sadly, I'm not a great planner. Once something is planned, I can help make it happen, though.
