That idea of an ita memorial 5krav run is awesome!
ita's thread
A place where we can talk about ita, miss ita, and share information about memorials. The hugging started over here in Natter.
You'd probably have to get some kind of permission from the krav folks, though. And honestly, insurance for an event where people are punching and kicking things would probably be ridiculous.
Permission? Why?
Wait, are folks actually trying to convince Strix to organize an open-to-the-public fundraising event? That seems ... daunting to say the least. For reasons Pix and meara and others have noted.
brenda, because Krav Maga is branded and trademarked. They are actually extremely picky about their branding too.
It's a cute idea and would be fun. It's also a ridiculously challenging task for someone who is not local and is not part of the running community.
It's just an idea being bandied about; if it were to be seriously pondered, I would do an investigation to see if it were plausible and report back on what would be required.
I know it would be a huge undertaking and probably a year (at least) in the doing.
And honestly, no one convinces me to do anything; I'm a planner, so I would do a careful prelim to see if it were doable IRL.
(I'm worried about tone; I don't want to sound snotty or anything...but isn't taking a casual idea and making something crazy into something doable what ita did, with everyone helping? I don't know if this is doable, or even, er, want-to-do-able, but aren't we the people with the little ideas that turn into something great? But, like I said, I would never consider it without seriously looking at all the angles. It WOULD be a huge undertaking.)

Thinky things don't always become doing things but then there is Nillypooza.

Affiliating with the local krav crew could eliminate both of these concerns.
I don't know whether or not this is a realistic notion, but I do recall Strix and Sophia putting together the first F2F in Chicago, where neither of them lived. That was some impressive accomplishment.
Being the logistics coordinator for the Great Peace March forged me in the fire of "if you come, it will be built."
This can totally be done.
Marshaling the will, resources and energy is something else entirely.
I'm totally on board as part of the exploratory committee, wherever it may go.
