I stayed at the hostel in Santa Monica last year on my way down to Joshua Tree and on my way back up. It's 2 blocks away from the ocean, it has 6 or 7 floors, was custom built for hostelling, just had a 2M$ upgrade, meeting rooms, kitchen, refrigerators, I believe private or semi private rooms. A bunk in the women's dorm was something like 30 bucks iirc. It might have been $45? Not remembering, but one hostel was a little more expensive, it might have been this one. There's a parking garage across the street. If all you require is a safe place to sleep at night, a kitchen to stash perishables in and to cook when you don't want to go out, and good location, it's great. Free WiFi, every bunk has its own reading light and charging station, and it's completely ADA accessible. It's filled with typical friendly travelers from all over the world, at every age. There's an image set floating around Tumblr of Jason Momoa as The Crow, and I'm torn between appreciating it and thinking "Dammit, ita would LOVE this".

Does anyone know anything about ita's domain, thevelvetedge.com? Her sis is asking about it (her own email is through that domain), yet when I went to the domain, it went to a "This account has been suspended" page.
