Did anyone watch Supernatural tonight?
I enjoyed it, but I found it a little disorienting. I liked the Hellmouth shoutout to BtVS, but then facing all the old monsters just felt a little too BtVS season 7.
I have to watch again, but my first impression of Sam deciding Chuck is gone, and when they beat this new onslaught, he'll stay gone just seemed lazy. Can't decide if Sam and Dean are being lazy for jumping to that conclusion, or if the writers just want us to buy that with nothing to back it up but Sam's decision that that's how it is.
Seger's "Famous Final Scene" made me cry.
All in all, I'd probably give it a B.
I wanted Jack's possessor to be Crowley, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
What did you all think?
[Added spoiler font, in case I posted too early.]
It hasn't run on the west coast yet.
I'm sorry. Should I have waited to post?
Didn't we have a
Balthazar already (demon inside Jack)
? I may be misremembering.
I'd give it a B, too, Cindy. Sam's logic seems okay for now -- I mean, Chuck did say it was the end of the story -- but I can see how deciding that now is going to come back to bite them.
The hint of
evil!Sam
was intriguing. I'm not sure if it's intriguing in a good or bad way yet, though.
I'll just remember to skip a post by you before I've watched. It's okay.
So, I can see where the opening song seemed like a good idea but it didn't really work for me and that's kind of how I feel about the whole episode. Maybe what they are doing will grow on me.
I think Sam has a decent working hypothesis. Even if he's wrong, it's probably best for them to act as if he's right, you know? Pretty much Team Free Will's only option.
I do not like the demon-in-Jack thing at all. Everyone is accepting his help way too easily, for one thing, and I am just tired of snarky demonic sidekicks. If he turns out to be Michael trying to get his hands on the Colt or something I may come around, but as it stands now I am not pleased.
Sam's injury is potentially interesting. I liked the first glimpses of Bloody Mary and the Woman in White and even the scary clown, but they didn't feel right as we saw more of them and I don't know why.
So, I have some catching up to do since I think I'm behind 3 seasons at least. What if I just started watching this season now -- would I be too lost?
I think you'd be ok jumping in now. There's some dialog explaining the current situation, probably enough.
I will admit up front that my loathing for the Buckner/Ross-Leming writing team is pretty much hotter than a thousand suns from hell, but that episode seemed egregiously bad to me.
Possibly I was in a bad mood. But ghosts doing bureaucracy was just stupid. And I know they wanted to keep the Jack actor, but I'm over that storyline already. AND I hated the Rowena/Ketch nonsense, but it seems like that writing team always needs to get some kind of romance/sex into every episode they write.
I don't even know what to think about Chuck and Amara (except I kind of like Amara now), and I didn't understand in the first episode that Sam's wound and Chuck's were, like, reverberating or whatever. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE SAM GOD, FOR REAL.
Basically, bah humbug. And I really hope it gets better from here.
