I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

As the Voice of God, not a scribe, basically. It just sticks in my craw.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So your stance is that he spoke for God, not repeated/transcribed what God said?

I can't see Show going to full fledged Word of God while the Chuck question is unanswered officially.

Repeated is fine, it's the writing down I object to.

Possibly pretty far from rational, but I can't always choose where I draw my lines.

Chuck, for example. I will never accept Chuck being God.

Kripke has said so in interview, but it doesn't count if it's not explicit onscreen.

I'd be surprised if they went there solidly before the end of the series.

Yeah, I know he said so, but it offends my sense of How Things Should Be too much. Even if it clearly becomes canon I cannot get on board with that.

I think it's hysterical that they wrote themselves as God and shipped them/God with the audience, but I admit that's irrelevant to worldbuilding protocol.

My problem with it is that it reads like a retcon, not anything inherent in the premise.

That is part of my problem with it. The retcon-ness, that is. You are absolutely right that the meta/ship is pretty funny. I can appreciate that.

I think it's interesting, but it's messy. But then again, I think Kripke was plenty messy and don't get the "Show ended with S5, the rest is fanfic" position. S1-5 were plenty messy too.

I wondered if this tumblr would be interesting, but mostly I think it's creepy: [link] -- I'm wincing at most of their hypotheticals.

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

All throughout Season 8, I yelled "Flashback Face!" so many times. Dean or Sam would get that look, and then flashback (to either purgatory or Amanda). I went from finding it slightly annoying to hysterically funny.

I'm not sure that was the effect they were going for.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I have to say that I deeply liked Benny as a character. Or maybe I just found the actor portraying him appealing.

Metatron I hate because he is deeply annoying, and there is no joy to be had in hating him. There is only hate. And annoyance. I do not love to hate him. I despise his very existence, and his continued existence and usage. Maybe I'm shallow and wouldn't mind him so much if the actor were attractive, or maybe I'd still hate him then too. I can't quantify how much or why I hate him as I do, as a character and a story arc. Other than, as an angel and the voice of God, he still doesn't make sense to me. He's far too petty and human in his motivations.
