My current can't-stop-it grilled cheese is low-gly bread, havarti, and bacon and/or tomato. For some reason I can't quite tolerate mayo right now.
I just came across a list of 10 grilled cheese recipes and the Gruyere stuffed French toast looks nummy and the Welsh Rarebit variation with spinach brings back memories...
I wonder if people are literally only going to friends' houses, because I heard some kids screaming outside and we have decor!
Twelve so far. Tiny Batman is my fave so far -- he stopped on the way back to his folks to cheerfully reply "Happy Halloween!" to mine. Polite Batkid.
I don't think we've gotten any Elsas yet, but we got a mummy whose wrappings were strategically loose so you could see his sweatshirt underneath, which had a ribcage printed on it. Clever. We also got a teeny tiny Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, who seemed unclear on the concept of trick-or-treat but had a deathgrip on his candy bucket nonetheless.
Trick or treating here was last night, and I wasn't home, so I don't get to see the costumed kids. I'm looking at all my friends photos on facebook, though. I love the ones where the costume was obviously the kid's idea -- my friend's three-year-old is "Super Girl Kitty," which seems to be a purchased Super Girl costume, red leggings, whiskers drawn on her face, and cat ears drawn on her forehead. (I have a feeling that the "Kitty" part of this costume was a last-minute addition.)
No trick or treaters here yet.
All the Elsas I saw had winter coats on over their costumes. But the Olafs looked nice and warm!
A couple of people mistook me for Elsa. One person recognized the Mother of Dragons, Stormborn, Queen of the Andals and the First Men. My dragon kept falling off, though. [link]
Nobody recognized Dylan as Asterix, but he looked AWESOME - the helmet and belt came out really great, I thought. [link]
I didn't get a good picture of Aeryn because she had DH carrying her all night.
In addition to LSD being swamped [link] the haunted house attraction on Navy Pier is sinking [link] . Setup for Nick Wallenda's highwire over the river continued though.
Seems to have topped out at a whopping 21. I have several pieces left, but not that much, actually. I'll leave the light on until 8:30p, but I kind of hope they're done - I want SOME leftovers. That's fair.
