I have been eating like CRAP lately, lots of sweets, non-regular meals, just lots of non-purposeful eating. I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 1 pound over the last few months. As much as I appreciate that number, my clothes don't fit right and I need to be more mindful of what I'm doing.
Thanks for the pretties - such a lovely way to wake up.
I feel like I'm quickly reaching the point where I am done with this reorg bullshit, but I'd be more ready to move to San Francisco if the average rent on a 1BR was not super ridiculous. I know I'm basing this on my current income and not what my income (hopefully) would be if I transferred, but good god.
Oh, I just hit the money quote in this article: "Replacing a serving of potato with a serving of whole grains was NOT associated with reduced mortality." That means I can keep eating my taters! Woo!
I spent a ridiculous amount on bags of candy at Party City because I was there getting other things and didn't look at the prices. Oh well, live and learn.
I had TJ's pumpkin toaster pastries for breakfast this morning. Nom. If they are shaving minutes off my life, or whatever, I repeat - oh well.
There was a question about that? I thought potatoes were considered a nearly perfect food (except for weight loss purposes).

This study did a thing where they swapped a serving of refined-grain food (like bread) with a serving of whole-grain food, and then swapped a serving of meat for a whole grain, and then swapped a serving of potato with a whole grain. I don't know if they actually had a hypothesis about potatoes, or just wanted to get data on swapping out several non-whole-grain foods.
Still, my sigh of relief was mighty.
BTW, Elle UK might be a good investment this month.
David, what age was Emmett when he got the HPV vac?
When the boys were getting vaccinations is wasn't suggested for them so it may have been before that time. If it was suggested I would have done it! They are just a bit older than Emmett.

Rents are crazy here, but cost of living is pretty doable, especially after you factor in your bump in salary. You should compare notes with P-Cow and Java and megan walker and others who commute down to the South Bay. It might be easier to get an East Bay Place and take the BART down to Fremont, or do CalTrain from South of Market. There are some ways to finesse it. I've found NorCal winds up compensating for the rent in a variety of ways (cheaper produce, public transit, lots of free entertainment etc.) People want to move here because it's so much easier to just live here. No brutal winters, easy access for travel and all that biz.

He got the first shot last year. He needs two more.
