Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The gap between empathy and Schadenfreude can be quite narrow.
It's funny because it's true.
Aww, poor Grace.
My kids are usually good about getting shots. Isaac makes a scene at home but puts on a brave face at the doctor's office, and Franny is just super stoic. She took the HPV vaccine without a tear or a yelp. Impressed the nurse.
Apropos of nothing on this thread today, a Good Wife observation:
In Good Wife this season, one of the character takes 'charmingly quirky' (scare quotes deliberate) to such an extreme that I'm wondering if the writers are planning a later reveal of a brain tumor, or if they really think some of this is not a serious clinical symptom (more from the episode before the latest than from this one).
I think that is vague enough to be nonspoilery, while being clear to any one who watched the last two episodes. But I spoiler fonted anyway, just in case.
I hope that is not where they are going, Typo. I love that she is good at her job because of how odd she is rather than in spite of it, I'd hate for that to become pathology.
Ugh, I am freaking tired. I slept well, but feel like I still haven't achieved "awake".
I got my flu shot last month. I don't mind needles unless they are going for the arterial blood gas test - that hurts like a $#(*^#@@. Thankfully it has been years since I've had to go through that. ::knocks on wood::
I've only had one flu shot, and that was 40 years ago or so. I have this thing with needles. Never have had the flu either so I guess I am ahead of the issue.
I do have to get my other medical appts scheduled and that hasn't happened quite yet although I am talking to a couple new potential PCPs.
We voted! I messed up my first ballot, then the poll worker voided my good one instead of the bad one, so they ended up printing 3 for me. This while DH is calling me from the parking lot repeatedly wondering why he finished so much faster than me. Please Floridians don't make me deal with Gov Scott again. Crist is no prize either.

Hee.
I love when updates we get at work have a bonus at the end for people who actually get there. The media sweep usually has a cute story at the bottom, and the current one from our Russian colleagues had a link to a weather site -- it is 18 degrees F and snowing in Siberia right now!
I, meanwhile, lament that it is getting hard to find sun to sit in at lunchtime (because of geometry and my old frenemy DST). Oh how my ancestors must mock me. Or envy me. Hard to say.
I got my flu shot/vaccine/stab a couple weeks ago. I really need a tetanus booster, must remember that next time I see the doctor. My fear of needles seems to be receding.
I know the one you mean, Gar. A little of her goes a long way.
I was just reading one of those listicle thingies on how to be nice to wait staff, and the final item was "tip on the whole amount."
I had this argument recently with a Buffista on whether it was pre-tax or post that you're supposed to tip on, and while I believe the answer is pre, that doesn't mean I don't suck it up and tip on the post-tax amount. I guess it's another way of passing on cost of living?
But here's what the article (#10) was saying:
if you decide to split your bill between diners or multiple forms of payment, don’t under-tip by accident. Twenty percent refers to the entire check and not just your portion.
Does that not imply that everyone is supposed to put 20% of the total tip when the bill is split? That's news to me.
I got my flu shot randomly at my sleep appointment, and since I broke the skin when I fell down the stairs, I'm now up to date on tetanus. I should record that...Evernote here I come!
