Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

It may be wrong, but I visualize the day (probably when they are 30) that they apologize for being such asses when they were younger.

I've sent to many of those cards, notes and emails. And I was pretty good as a kid.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

and this is why some of us are not parents. For I know I do NOT have the patience or self-discipline or unselfishness to be a parent.

This is me too, I'm afraid. All my sisters have had kids (the five of them). My oldest brother is gay, so nothing going there. My next oldest brother - he and his wife aren't going to spawn for a variety of reasons. Me - I don't see it happening for the very reasons that Consuela describes.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I think I (we) might have reached that level (maybe), but now biology and finances are starting to sing "Too late! Too late!". We shall see.

My BFF is going through some similar stuff with her almost-17-year-old daughter. It's maddening and baffling to watch, and it's not even my kid. She won't do her schoolwork, won't do any chores, refuses to even consider learning to drive, has no interest in college or a job, and is planning to never move out so her mom can take care of her forever. I don't even know what this kid is going to do with herself.

See, and this is why I sometimes boggled at my parents when they acted like we had disappointed them. Like, all three of your children graduated college and are self-supporting, and are not on drugs or in jail. Isn't that a win??

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sounds like a win to me!

I have so many judgmental comments I won't make on facebook. A sample: 1. Maybe try not having a boyfriend for a minute after your disastrous second marriage? 2. You and your husband look weirdly alike. 3. Aren't you a little old for that?

You're welcome.

Holy crap -- my organization is going to have a new CEO as of next summer, and I just learned who in the newspaper....

OK, an all-staff email went out at 10 last night. Maybe not the best?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That doesn't seem like the best way for you to get that news.

Eta heh, I meant the paper but an after hours email blast also seems suboptimal.

Both ways! Not the best!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm still getting these random bug bites. Only on my arms/hands, and I don't know why. Also, very itchy.
