Our wings are not tired.

Oh yeah, the wine is a very good plan indeed.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I would like to read the full WSJ version

The WSJ paywall is easy to get around -- Google the article title.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, that doesn't sound fun for anyone, msbelle.

Aha! The Doubletree ad is saying "first, the cookie at check-in", not "first we'll cook you a chicken".

Mom was feeling up for the phone, so I got to wish her a happy 70th. The oxy made her puke, but she's comfortable with the tram and Tylenol. Talked until the tram was clearly kicking in. Dad has a paper spreadsheet of her meds. They had ipad calendar app alerts set up but the puking mixed things up, so he went to his trusty graph paper.

I'm not so sure about my dad as a cuddly nursemaid (but he'll fix your broken appliances) but he's good at data. She won't miss a dose.

She told me her csection for me was much worse than this. Alrighty. And the dr didn't check up on her then (he's been calling regularly.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

oh he just started on a string about how "you don't care about me."

"If I didn't care I'd be fine with your approach to schoolwork and the fulfilling janitorial career it will lead to."

Our wings are not tired.

If I try that one I get a lecture on how I am too materialistic and that my definition of a successful career has no connection to personal happiness and fulfillment. Because ya know that stuff at 22. This is the child that assures me that all he needs is to work 20 hours a week at McDonald's and he can pay rent and bills, and save for a car. I am more clever than his dad in that I do not argue that logic with him at all. There is a whole bunch of stuff you just have to figure out yourself.

Ah, parenting is such fun.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Ah, parenting is such fun.

... and this is why some of us are not parents. For I know I do NOT have the patience or self-discipline or unselfishness to be a parent.

Just took my sister out for a great birthday dinner. Although, to clarify, I didn't pick up the check, but I did make a great coconut layer cake for the occasion. Today was my day off and I got a lot done, but I didn't manage to get to Kaiser and get a flu shot. Next day off, I guess, then.

Now I am finally catching up on this week's Agents of SHIELD.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Mo'ne Davis just clocked Jimmy Fallon with a whiffleball. That was worth seeing. She's got an arm like a catapult.

Doubletree chocolate-chip cookies are almost worth staying there for! So good.

My BFF is going through some similar stuff with her almost-17-year-old daughter. It's maddening and baffling to watch, and it's not even my kid. She won't do her schoolwork, won't do any chores, refuses to even consider learning to drive, has no interest in college or a job, and is planning to never move out so her mom can take care of her forever. I don't even know what this kid is going to do with herself.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

It may be wrong, but I visualize the day (probably when they are 30) that they apologize for being such asses when they were younger.

I've sent to many of those cards, notes and emails. And I was pretty good as a kid.
