I'm sorry for your loss, Suzi.
Oz had a run-in with another cat. Thankfully, I got them apart before they fought. (By yelling and throwing water.) But I did get bit by Oz twice, after I thought he was calmed down enough to try and grab him. I made a grab at awkward angle and he went for me. It's not a puncture wound, so I hope it won't get terribly infected.
Suzi, I'm sorry for your loss.
In other news I got a new job today! I'm moving schools on a date to be determined (and it's one at the old Ambassador Hotel where RFK was shot).
Is that a good thing, Kat?
YES! I applied for this job a few years ago and the person who got the position instead of me is moving to a different position at the school. I sent my resume in on Monday night, interviewed Tuesday after school and was offered the job today.
It's a pilot school (which means I don't have to leave the district), small, and doing stuff I believe in. They rarely have openings, even though they are relatively new. And they are heavily supported by UCLA. It's a school I could send Noah and Grace to since it's K-12. Info on the school is here: [link]
That's great, Kat!
That's ... less great, shrift, but maybe something awesome will come of it?
Fingers crossed either way works best, Consuela.
That's awesome, Kat! I'm so pleased for you.
I've decided, after the last week, that I just don't want to go back into private consulting, and I'm not going to apply for any more consulting gigs. At least, not unless I'm desperate. But I'm not desperate; I make a good salary right now and my boss clearly wants me to stick around, and even if the work isn't super exciting, it's work I can support doing. (I'm not helping ruin the groundwater of North Dakota, for instance.)
So I may continue applying for public sector jobs as they come up, but for the next six months or so, I'm not going to sweat the job hunt. Which gives me time and mental energy (I hope) to get my kitchen done.
Then: great, Kat! Congrats!
Sounds like you made the right call, Suela.
That sounds great, Kat!
Sounds like a good decision, Consuela.
