As long as it is still in the 60s and 70s during the day, I can leave the heat off as long as I close up when it is colder at night. House has about a 3 day delay in adjusting to the outside without interference ( which is why the basement is still so warm-it's always closed up.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I finally turned on the furnace, after I found myself wanting to pull up the hood on my sweatshirt.

hip deep in pie

I always hold out until November before turning on the furnace. But it's pretty balmy here.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Just found out that my dad's best friend, of 53 years, passed away yesterday. I've known this man all my life. Just wow. Also learned that Sandy was my dad's best man for all 3 of his weddings. I was at the last two and hadn't made that connection. He taught math to generations and generations of San Francisco High School students.

Kinda reeling here.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wine, Chocolate and Art Festival was pretty great, if very hot. Mom and Dad each found a wine to buy, we all found chocolate to buy, and Dad picked up a metal willow tree that's super cool. It was very hot, but a lot of the wine was chilled and that helped. One of the chocolate stalls had little insulated bags for their chocolate, which was awesome. Then we went to dinner and I got Roasted Bone Marrow and brought home the bones, so I have delicious stock in my future. It's still 86 in my living room, but that doesn't even feel warm right now.

I'm supposed to go see a friend's husband's band play music tonight, but I think I'm going to just watch the end of this baseball game (if it ever ends) and go to sleep.

I forgot to mention, my Y staff knows me too well. Tonight I got asked 'so now that it is cooler, more cookies? With booze? I really like kaluah?' Even they know I don't bake until my kitchen won't become a furnace. Maybe I could do that tomorrow.

SO HOT. We took Dad to Octoberfest, which was packed with people. I had some good beer and a great plate of West African food.

And now I'm going to bed.
