I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

The employer who asked if they could contact my references didn't do so. And they told me I didn't get the job. I guess that's better than talking to my references and then saying "Nope." I'd be all paranoid about my references then. Still, I'm a bit unhappy about it.

What new shows should I be watching this year?

Apparently Amazon's Transparent is supposed to be brilliant. Me, I'm two seasons behind on TGW, and 3 eps behind on DW.

Are you a cartoon fan? Because Legend of Korra has been really good this year, and is just about to start its final season.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Ugh, Calli. I'm sorry. The job hunt is so demoralizing sometimes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have been distracted from the job hunt by writing strongly worded letters to my doctor's office. It's true I can't manage my health and my job concurrently, but I think a lot of that is on my doctor, not even on my health.

Still back to aggressive job hunting tomorrow.

Big girls don't cry, right?

So Monday, a level3 vp told our director and NASA that CSC wasn't on the market. Tuesday, the biz journals are abuzz with CSC seeking out Lockheed and Blackthorn, etc... For a buyout.

I can't even. I don't know all the variations on my options. Maybe if I can get myself fired by CSC, work won't have to adhere to the mou on rehiring CSC people? Maybe a buyout would nullify our contract? We don't fucking know.

I'm hoping hoping the coming weeks bring some clarity. Work knows that those who can fly will come Jan 1 and those indispensable will demand something they can't refuse. I'm not one of those categories. I'm part of a renew contract thru 2015. Barring buyout nullification, or something.

I hate this. I do love my job, just hate my employers.

Crap, sarameg, what a nightmare. I'm so sorry.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't even know what to say, sarameg. I suppose I shouldn't be shocked, but I am. Good luck.

not your mom's socks.

dammit, Sarameg. I'm sorry. This is fuckery.

ita, I think your healthcare providers are causing you additional stress absolutely. I hate that they do and wish they would focus on helping you rather than hindering you.

meara - Oct 01, 2014 7:10:52 pm PDT #7460 of 30000

Sarameg, are they not allowed to rehire if you get a job inbetween?

And they told me I didn't get the job. I guess that's better than talking to my references and then saying "Nope.

Definitely! And better than saying they're going to contact your references and then just never talking to you again, sadly.

I emailed with several of my coworkers, all of whom are SO OVER our boss. And sent a (very toned-down from what I wanted to say) response to the boss. Doesn't help I've had a headache all day.

I just watched "How to Get Away With Murder" and damn, Shonda, I love ya and all, but some of that was just ridiculous. Even I, as a person not intending to ever go to law school, know more than some of these supposed first-year law students. Or lawyers. I do like most of the law student characters, so far, but damn they're dumb.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

It sounds like lots of people had shitty days yesterday. I cut myself off from social media about 6, had wine, and binge-watched Dollhouse.
