I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm excited that I am feeling much better -- was afraid the walk would be it for me today -- so I think I'm going to make this elaborate baked shells in roasted pepper cream sauce I've had my eyes on!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Brava walkers!

I'm bummed: it's a cloudy day and it would be nice to bake, but the oven won't work without power at that outlet, damn it.

What I need to do today is hang some pictures and clean house and do laundry. But I ran nearly 4 miles this morning and I would really like to just laze around. Sigh.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm vegging on the patio now, with my Fitbit hovering at not quite 10K steps. Later, there may be bread baking, but for right now it's feet up time. Oh, and I have my new t-shirt on. :-)

It was a really lovely walk, with nice people, and the kiddo wasn't that whiny, just tired, and calmly dealt with by the parental units. That was no bother at all for the other team members, from where I stood.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I, OTOH, ran out to Menard's, got what I needed and...stopped in at Marshall's and spent an enormous amount of money. In my defense, all kinds of stuff I need/want was on clearance. I ended up with:

For me: 2 dresses, 1 shirt, 1 big comfy Blackhawks hoodie, one pair flats and a pair of awesome fall boots.

For my apt: gorgeous deep purple bath towels

For the house: calphalon deep sautéed pan, curtains for the bedroom, and two large throws

For the dog: new hammock thing for the back seat as the current one is falling apart, 1 cute red sweater that will hopefully bother her less than her sheepskin coat, and about a gazillion dog bags.

I hope that's all. Phew.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sounds like a good haul, brenda.

I may have sufficient food made for the week. The rabbits certainly have a generous pile of scraps for today. I still need to make the apple tarts I promised myself I would try, so I guess that's what I'll start once this break is over. Then there's lunch and running and laundry to consider. Probably in that order.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I did most of my grocery shopping for the week this morning and walked the cat. This afternoon I'll probably head downtown to catch some of a local music festival.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Congrats, aurelia! Yay Jesse and Theo!

The yard sale was a huge success, and there was no drama. My flock of babygoths (aged 14 - 18) were there, looking adorable and being very sweet. They brought me a t-shirt that says OLD SCHOOL GOTH CHICK, which amuses me no end.

I am incredibly tired and achy, and am trying to decide if I want to walk to and from the spa. On the one hand, I don't quite feel up to walking the three blocks there and back. On the other hand, OMG SPA. Soaking in heated pools and saunas sounds really fucking attractive.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Clearance is the best. I ordered an unnecessary amount of stuff from Lands' End yesterday, almost none on clearance, but all 30% off, so that seemed worthwhile.

I should really do laundry, but ugh.

Jilli, I love that you have a flock.
