You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

20 is the last level. I got the solution, but I'm still not sure why it worked.

For my solution, I basically had to puzzle out two steps: first, how to find the point of intersection between the tangent line and the line through the two circles' centres; and then how to construct a line passing through a given point and tangent to a given circle. That second part stumped me until I remembered a result about right-angled triangles from Geometry of the Circle in Year 9 (which I mostly remember as being immensely fun and taught out of an atrociously formatted textbook).

What approach did you take to get it?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

What approach did you take to get it?

I was able to find the point of intersection between the tangent line and the line through the circles' centers pretty quickly, but then figuring out how to construct the tangent line was where I was stumped. I don't totally remember the train of thought that eventually got me to the solution.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, Nora. Sorry.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Tomorrow ED opens preliminary talks with intern for full time job. Finger crossed, but my hopes are failing. Because he has a second candidate for interim director that he wants "to take ownership" of the hire. Um, this is potentially a short time position and if we don't act fast we'll lose her? Her internship ends July 10th. I need to speak to him tomorrow. Intern beneficial, yes. Interim Director, whotf knows, let's go with our strengths.

Punishingly Intricate

I spent my first day in Northern Ireland today. It’s gorgeous; really reminds me of rural Connecticut in many ways.

I visited Northern Ireland as a teenager and would love to go back. Where are you guys staying, Pix?

Didn't see the redacted, Nora, but am sorry your travels are not so fun.

We had major house reno this year so no traveling internationally but we're hoping to go somewhere cool next year. The problem is figuring out where to go of the Most of the World places we haven't been to yet. Iceland is definitely in the running though. Also, Peru!

The band on my laptimer broke, I sliced my finger open trying to fix it, the candidate with actual ideas that I voted for lost to the uninspiring heir-apparent (did well considering, but still) and stupid fedex tried to deliver at noon and website won't cooperate let me hold the package for pickup.

I'm over everything. I'm about 3 months overdue for a vacation, but that's not in the near future either, not even much of a staycation (which is what I really want, since I have more ideas than sense and am dropping $$ on necessary house investments like whoa this year, which I don't mind but still) because I'm pretty much fucked for time at work, which is not my fault. But ANYONE giving me stinkeye for vacation time in 2015 might get punched.

OK, I've managed to get the package (I suspect an ipad mini) to be held at the Fedex facility on campus. I can walk over and pick it up tomorrow.

One down...

Who is the iPad from, sara? That's a fun package!

Parents. Early bday present. Dragging my techy-ass along. (I was all, you can buy me an industrial fan! Or a snowblower!) They are rapidly outpacing me in terms of gadgets. Which is hilarious as they are the ones that raised such a philistine. And now they have cable and iphones and ipads and minis and @@.

Or a casement AC unit! Except, they know I'd buy those for myself anyway. NSM computer stuff.
