Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Dear NPR: Maybe you should rethink airing a soundclip of lots of children screaming in your first hour morning broadcasts. The explanation after that it was group therapy did not make it any less chilling or jarring. Especially since it sounded like a demented alert warning.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am so sorry, Lee

Someone sent a group Facebook message to everyone in my high school class asking for our current address and phone number for reunion planning. Everyone is replying to all! Not sure if you can turn that off, but it seems weird

Aaand I get to work just as we lose 60% of power and so can't park in the garage because they haven't yet gotten the gate arms up and my systems are all on backup generator. But apparently the wireless network is up. And I can run on battery on the laptop.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm so sorry, Lee. Peace to you and yours.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have to confess that it was nice this weekend not having access to my work email on my phone (we've switched systems in some way), but there was a crapload of stuff waiting for me this morning! At least nothing expecting a response over the weekend.... And I did check the webmail a couple of times.... Ugh, work.

I'm also excited that I will be back in my apartment tomorrow night! Our friends got a short-term rental right on their own street, which is pretty sweet. An insurance company that is willing to pay for hotel rooms makes for pretty good leverage when looking for a short-term monthly rental, it turns out. (I'm sure they aren't actually paying hundreds of dollars a night, but I bet it's higher than actual market rate.)
