Stupid tx school districts. Just don't trade work stress for home financial stress. But applying is a good step! Done one, first hurdle.

yep. I probably need to stay in the private sector for the time being and just find a company that is a better fit for me.
Unrelated to the volunteer gig, I have to say how cool this is: for my clinical pathology proofreading job, I have an editorial from a doctor at Emory in Atlanta about how to deal with Ebola patients, in terms of all the clinical testing that has to be done (given that the specimens that are tested are also how the disease is transmitted [one sentence literally says "It is obvious these packages must be hand-carried to the department for testing. No specimens are to be sent in the pneumatic tube system."]). Pretty cool. I also feel a little bit like a ghoul for thinking it's cool, but hey.
Nah, it's cool! It's educational and seriously potentially life saving.
And I'm amused that hospitals still use pneumatic tubes. Meaning, they couldn't really improve on them in all this time.
"Hey Bob, it's Rita down in Pathology. Stand by for some Ebola coming your way!" "Rita, no! You have to hand-carry it to my department!"
Actually I think it is very cool that hospitals still use pneumatic tubes. I want to move to the alternate universe where mail, packages and even local freight are all routinely shipped to homes and store via pneumatic tubes.
C&P Anne's post and send it.
Seriously, Anne's post was pitch perfect.

They do at JZ's hospital.
Seriously, Anne's post was pitch perfect.
All it needs is for you to end it with "And if you don't stop bothering me I'll send you EBOLA through a PNEUMATIC TUBE."
Disabling the Holt Pneumatic Tube system immediately.
Anne's post was pitch perfect.
Aw, thanks!
I wish we had pneumatic tubes to get stuff from campus to campus at work. Of course, people would find ways to subvert the system from its intended purpose. And this would be GLORIOUS.
