Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
In unexpectedly delightful news, my faux-son did the majority of the work cleaning out the storage shed. He's refused to take anything but gratitude for this, and I'm not arguing. This is his way of honoring Hubby.
We had an old filing cabinet in the shed, and there were various Magic cards. I figured they were pretty worthless as they weren't from the early sets. I just came home to find the check faux-son got for selling those cards. $1500. Blink.
Practicality says dump it all in savings. Whimsy says "Found money! Do something fun!" Debate has decided $1000 into savings. And I'm going to go buy a couple of yarn toys I've been mulling. And maybe an expensive skein of yarn or two. And the rest of that in the cash stash.
So the most recent email said "Call me at 10 p.m. and I can talk you through it."
Come over at 10pm and pick up the books.
I APPLIED FOR A JOB!
It's middle salary point is more than $15K less than what I make now, but I have to get out of there.
Connie, seriously NICE and kudos to faux son for taking it on and delivering.
Msbelle, just remember to negotiate hardball, no matter how much you want out. No one else knows that. Know what your budget and lifestyle can take (hell, you probably know a helluva lot better than I do mine) and the promotion path.
It is for a job with a school district in the district offices.
Good bennies?
Yay for the nice windfall, Connie!
And go you, msbelle, for getting an application in. Also what sarameg said.
probably actually a little worse and more expensive than what I have now.
A HUGE issue with me looking for work is that my job pays really well for what I do and where I am, AND the benefits are really good. But I am super stressed almost all the time, there is more work than I can do well, I will never get along with the people, and there is no place to advance.
Stupid tx school districts. Just don't trade work stress for home financial stress. But applying is a good step! Done one, first hurdle.
