I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I ate too many scones. Delicious, but my body is already telling me it does not know how to deal with all those simple sugars.

Balls. I walked 3/4 mile reach way, only to find the Social Security office closes at noon on Wednesdays. Dan it.

So now I have a consolation chai.

Also, they just announced there will be layoffs in the organization. Don't know whether that will affect my division, or me on particular.

Whine, whine.

Oh, argh, Consuela. I hope your job is safe.

I rarely need it, but I am still very grateful that the Social Security office is 3 blocks from my house. Just knowing it is so close if I do need it makes me feel more secure, somehow.

So not only do I still continue to like my new boss, but he is also a geek and actually made a public introduction that likened where we work to Doctor Who (that actually worked really really well) with an aside to "don't even get me started on Buffy". This I find is true geekery, rather than the initial false connection I found with last horrible boss-type-person, where it was just a symptom of anglophilia.

I should have stayed home and played with dangerous powertools another day. I felt a little bad about taking yesterday as we've got a tight schedule. Turns out it wouldn't have mattered anyway. And not today either. And it's stupid config stuff that has no reason to be screwed up except lack of continuous coverage. Sigh.

Julie, it's about time you got a good one!

Right?! He's very open-minded, everything is a discussion, he's perpetually apologizing for talking my ear off while I'm pleased as punch that he values seeking out my opinion. He keeps wondering when we'll disagree on something and has brought up concerns that have been a bee in my bonnet for ages. He's got a great sense of humour and can take my good natured heckling and I haven't laughed at work since two bosses ago like I do with him.

I'm still a bit intimidated by how well-read he is and his constant questions about "did I read this?" and I've just never enjoyed reading about my profession.

But, still, YAY!

Take it just as an opening to pick his brain, rather than a comparison: "i don't think I've encountered blah blah, what the gist/how'd we incorporated that/whatever"

brillig

Ah, this brave new world. On a whim, I decided to see Guardians of the Galaxy this Friday, actually in a first-run movie house! Decadence! So I got online, found the theatres it's playing in, picked the one near my house, picked the matinee, reserved near front row middle, and paid for it. One of the joys of having a weekday as my day off.
