I did close to nothing this weekend. I am very lazy.
Am I weird to be annoyed that my university is pushing really hard for faculty/staff donations? I understand that high level deans and presidents probably should give, but when we haven't had raises over 1-2 percent, and we have seen sharp increases in health care and parking, it seems like a lot to ask.
It is slightly better than when our school made and sold a cookbook, like women's groups used to. We lost so much money.
I'd be annoyed, Sophia.
Yay pound cake!
Way to go, Burrell! That's huge!
If it's like my little independent school, it's not about the amount donated but the percentage of the faculty who give. Saying 100% of the faculty donated, for example, helps them apply for other money. It doesn't matter if you only donate $5.
I think it's annoying, and I'm a fundraiser! It just doesn't make logical sense to me.

I think this is probably what's driving fundraising like this across the country. Though if they don't stipulate the last sentence (a lot of nonprofits do say that line) it's a really tough thing to ask.
Hooray Burrell! Well done and congratulations on the new-to-you fridge.
Huge cheers for Aims today. Your classroom looks amazing.
One more day and then school starts for us. Can't wait. Neither can HPF.
Round one(eleven, thirteen?) of wipe down and rustoleum on the impossible rust spots. Off to the hardware store!

No, that's ridiculous of them to ask.
This was the biggest party weekend in Niles. Not Labor day - that just was a bonus. The last sunday in August is the antique Faire weekend. Sunday we shut down the main street ans it is full of vendors of 'antiques' ( not as much as they use to have ) .
but things start with parties - friday night . Garage sales all over the neighbor hood start Saturday. ( hundreds) . There are parties - but this year there was a house concert. then at midnight the venders start setting up . Matt and I got fried Sunday ( when will I remember to reapply sunscreen) . so we ran an errand or two . then read . and would hae stayed on the couch , but got invited to dinner.
So any one that did more than eat, drink too much, get sunburned, look at junk, and walk a lot -was very productive
