Am I weird to be annoyed that my university is pushing really hard for faculty/staff donations? I understand that high level deans and presidents probably should give, but when we haven't had raises over 1-2 percent, and we have seen sharp increases in health care and parking, it seems like a lot to ask.
No, that's ridiculous of them to ask.
This was the biggest party weekend in Niles. Not Labor day - that just was a bonus. The last sunday in August is the antique Faire weekend. Sunday we shut down the main street ans it is full of vendors of 'antiques' ( not as much as they use to have ) .
but things start with parties - friday night . Garage sales all over the neighbor hood start Saturday. ( hundreds) . There are parties - but this year there was a house concert. then at midnight the venders start setting up . Matt and I got fried Sunday ( when will I remember to reapply sunscreen) . so we ran an errand or two . then read . and would hae stayed on the couch , but got invited to dinner.
So any one that did more than eat, drink too much, get sunburned, look at junk, and walk a lot -was very productive
I sort of see why it might make sense for a small organization to want their employees to donate- it seems like it would make a difference to other donors and show that they believe in the mission.
My University/Medical Center is the largest employer in the area and employees something like 25,000 people.
I'd say give a token dollar to express your annoyance.
she wanted to know what being banged around entails.
Standard stuff--chokes and bear hugs from in front and behind, grab escape, maybe choke on the ground.
I can do the bearhugs, but not any of the chokes.
Ooph, so tired today. But I still need to move all the food from the one fridge to the other, so I can reclaim my kitchen space. Next will be moving out my sister's paperwork to the back porch so I can reclaim my living room (again! I was all set on Friday and then more boxes arrived Saturday). And then there's work work waiting for me of course since the semester started last week.
Hey, any LAistas out there want an old fridge? No fancy features but it still runs properly and hasn't given us any grief. Free to good home.
Catch it before it gets too far!
"Do you have Prince Albert in a can?"
"Well, let him out!"
