I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

One of my friends who LOVES Burning Man keeps trying to convince me I should go. Ahahahaah, no. Camping, Desert. CAMPING. Plus, a lot of the people who are ardent Burning Man fans annoy me.

Alkaline dust everywhere? Bunches of bourgeois kids on drugs? Wal*Mart being the only place you can get supplies for hundreds of miles? No running water? People with no sense of personal boundaries who get pissy when you enforce yours?

Yeah, I can't see why you wouldn't want to go.

(To be fair, a lot of people I know have gone and had a wonderful time, and there are some truly awesome people who go/organize/spend a lot of time making art. It's just so very Not For Me, and it was even before the latest influx of tech money.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, look in the junk folder. That's where mine end up when that happens.

I found a couple of other missing things there, but these didn't show up until I restarted Outlook. Easy enough, but should not be necessary!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The camping in the desert part is really the only aspect that appeals to me. But I'd rather do that by myself.I'm pretty bourgeois about art, really.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yay on the second interview, ita!

As for Burning Man, yeah, no. I lived in Barrington Hall in the '80s, I have no need to go back and recapture the experience.

Ugh. I should really just de-friend this person I know who posts anti-vax links, all "SEE? This is why I am suspicious of the government!!" because I can't let it go by without posting the snopes link in the comments section...ugh.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I had a nasty bout of insomnia last night and got barely enough sleep. Woke up sometime before 1 and ended up taking a GABA at 1:15, then followed that with more melatonin at 4 am because I still hadn't slept. And then up again at 6:30 because the kids need to get to school. Ugh. I need a nap at some point today, but also need to do a bunch of housework and class prep.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think my favourite thing about Skype is the video messaging. except my sister is abusing locations, like her bathroom. I'm trying to send from the doctor's office, but it's all scrambled.

Man, I need a different outfit for tomorrow. Would it be fair to dress down a tiny bit?

Didn't you have 3 options last time? What's the best option #2?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It means ironing, beige tights, and non-flats. I'd love to just toss on a tie on top of a button down and trousers like I faked business formal at the last job.

I would think a tie and a button down would be fine, but what do I know? I'm in academia. We have a very vague sense of business appropriate.
