At least his stubbornness makes me more committed to being healthy?
Right? Veggies and sneakers for everyone! I look at my dad and I at least think that *if* I have his heart issues, I'm likely to survive them (see also: 5 heart attacks, still works as a bagger at the grocery at the age of 72). That said, my overarching goal is to never have to deal with that shit.
I've given up on that shit and have resigned myself to trying to convince him not to do things like take the canoe out at night by himself.

Oh Jesus. Why, dads, why?
Because he could before and he'll do it again.
My dad had a massive heart attack at 56 and did all the right things after. It did Improve his health but the damage from the first heart attack has been responsible for a valve replacement, a bypass and the insertion of a pacemaker/defibrilator. But he's not had another heart attack. As soon as he recovers from this hip replacement surgery, he'll be a relatively healthy 86 year old, with some replacement parts.
WAIT. My new boyfriend David Rees, of "Going Deep with David Rees," is ALSO Get Your War On!
MY new boyfriend is Mike Rugnetta of the PBS Idea Channel! Did everyone know about this guy already? I'm obsessed!
I do not! Should check him out next.
Having my crockpot cook my dinner for me while I'm at work is not really a huge time saver, but walking in the door to discover the house smells deliciously of Hawaiian short ribs is pretty great.
