Our wings are not tired.

In TGIF news, this morning I prepared myself a nice bowl of oatmeal. Half cup of whole oats and a whole lot of sliced strawberries. Just kept slicing away. Added some cinnamon and nutmeg because it is super chilly here and some spice sounded warm. Put it in the microwave for a while on medium heat and left it there for a few minutes to cool off.

Just went in to fetch it to eat, and I had forgotten to add water. Sigh.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Last night, the demonstrations in Ferguson were not only peaceful, but Capt. Johnson marched with the protestors. He also set up media staging areas - no more tear-gassing of reporters. No, the underlying problems are not solved, but I think the right move was made in terms of the immediate situation.

However, you'd think from all the social media I follow that Ferguson was still on fire. Yes, it's important to keep alive what happened and make sure it doesn't get swept under the rug, but it feels like some positive steps are being ignored. I'm surprised at how majorly PISSED OFF this is making me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am still waiting for my 8:30 consult with the orthodontist. This does not bode well....

Agreed. Progress should be as compelling news as disaster.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah. Plus the huge change illustrates how fucked up the police's initial response was. That needs to be emphasized.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So very, very sorry for your loss, tommy.

Thanks everyone for your support.

I'm driving up today to meet my siblings at the funeral home for some planning. You know, I haven't worn a suit in 20 years so I don't have one that fits. I'll ask my siblings if they think I should get one. I wonder if I can have a rush suit-fitting job so I'll have it in time. Maybe I'll just buy a off-the-rack black jacket.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm certain some of my nephews did something similar for Mom's service. Feeling very with you, tommy.

brillig

I remember doing fast shopping for my FIL's funeral, but it turned out Hubby and I were the only ones in black. Everyone else just wore Sunday best.

re: Ferguson, the press' rule has been "If it bleeds, it leads." Reasonable people working together isn't that compelling for the masses.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Have you set a date for the funeral yet? Men's Warehouse turned around a suit for Tim's mom's funeral in a couple of days. (Fortunately the only real alternation needed was hemming the pants for length.) And Tim was upfront and said "This is for my mom's funeral, which is on Tuesday, and my budget is $300," and the salesman was wonderful. If you have a Men's Warehouse near you, might be worth checking out, if you have the time.
