I figure the sun is always over the yardarm somewhere.
Yay for good interview! I don't suppose "Google" would be an acceptable answer.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I have had a not good travel experience, but soon there will be shrift and liquor.
All's well that ends well
I called AT&T and finally complained that they were charging me the DC 911 fee, and they were like "Oh, when did you move?" and I had to be like "Um, seven years ago? But I just noticed it and cared to call about it now?"
I also got a haircut.
I did not manage to get much work done, though. AND, my internet is still being weird (now my computer will get on the wireless but my ipad says it can't join).
I pulled on my big girl panties and scheduled my car for an oil change tomorrow. They're also going to do a quick inspection of the thing, all for about $35. Not having to do these things myself or impose on loved ones is worth the cost.
Not a lot of change in my dad's condition. His lungs and blood pressure are better at least. They stopped giving him sedatives this morning to try to get him to wake up--by this afternoon he still hadn't although it wouldn't be unusual if he didn't wake up until tomorrow. They were unable to get him off the ventilator this morning so they're gonna try again tomorrow.
My mom was fine with my dad today--she spent a few hours at his side holding his hand and stroking his head.
We went out to dinner in Clintonville and I had a very Wisconsin-supperclub-ish dinner of walleye and a grasshopper. And I splurged and got a hotel with a hot tub.
Glad you splurged, tommyrot, and that your mom was okay with your dad.
I think I might make myself a cocktail. Gin and strawberry puree, is that a thing?
It should be.
OK. I will make it so.
ETA: 2 oz gin + 3/4 oz lemon juice + heaping tablespoon of strawberry puree. Pretty good! And that's the last of my Hendricks. I am tempted to search back through Natter for my initial asking for gin buying advice so I can nail down exactly how long it took me to drink that...
So the interview went pretty well, although I'm worried because I'm near the end of the interviews, and apparently being near the end is bad.
Anyway, a woman I know/am friendly with was on the panel, which was a surprise. Not sure whether this is good, but I choose to think it's good. It was all women, actually, surprising because last year it was all men (maybe they got comments on that). They had good sensible questions and I had answers for everything, and we filled all the time. They even had follow-up questions, and I had questions for them about the job.
I'm still waiting on another, federal, job, which would be Great if I get it, but I probably won't, even though I'm totally qualified for it. That one would be great because it's a promotion and it's two hundred yards from my current job, and thus a relatively simple cheap commute that keeps me on this side of the Bay.
The job I interviewed for today would be in SF, and would be stressful, probably, with a rather more difficult commute (bus to Muni or carpool to Muni, or bike to BART with a 15-minute walk, or some combination of all that). And I would probably have to take a pay cut. OTOH, local government job with low turnover and good benefits. ::shrugs::
