Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

How much do I not want to spent a day that is looking to be gorgeous in the stinky mildewy courthouse? At least in my office, I can open the window.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Fuck cancer.

I had jury duty once, about 10 years ago.

Y'all are not making me any less resentful.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've had it 5 times, if that helps.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I've lost count of how many times I've had it -- 8 or 9, I think, counting all the dismissals. Only empanelled twice, though.

FWIW, end-of-month jury calls almost always get dismissed the same day, or so I've been told.

not your mom's socks.

It's still broken and I'm in the broken loop.

Sarameg, I was in that exact same loop when we lived in Baltimore, and DH was in the other loop. It was crazymaking.

I'm sorry about the interview, ita.

So sorry for your neighborhood's loss, Lisah.

You're not a bad daughter for not seeing the stroke, Consuela. You are an amazing person and care so much about your family. Just had to put that out there.

It's especially hard to diagnose minor strokes when there are so many other medical conditions going on that can have the same symptoms.

brillig

What Theo said. Hubby had a couple of minor strokes that he didn't recognize.

Had to escape to quiet room. A couple of old baltimore talkers were right next to me. I'm glad they were having a nice chat, but I really didn't want to hear anymore about their cruises or ne'er do well relatives or surgery.
