Yeah, it's pretty annoying. I'm glad my boss hates it as well, because otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd be looking for three IN ADDITION to my two direct reports.
It is. It is too bad my boss does not decide my raise (or even know my salary).
I am actually not certain if we are getting raises. If we are, it will be effective on Wednesday. We usually get a letter detailing the raise, and I haven't gotten one. I wasn't at the last all staff meeting, so maybe they talked about it there and let us know that there were no raises.
The people with whom I both work a lot and am confident would give me a good grade are pretty senior, so probably overwhelmed with reviews themselves.
Ask them anyway.

We are in the process of handing off projects and people have been saying to me, "I will learn from the master!" when I say that I'm comfortable chasing down leadership.
And I don't know what to do with that. Because I guess I have gotten reasonably good at it, but it's because I'm like that cartoon with the dog sitting in a room on fire going, "This is fine."
I'm watching sparrows hopping around the backyard. There are several just-fledged youngsters, which I can tell because they're spending more time chasing the adults around and doing the flutter-beg than pecking at possible bugs.
