Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. I'm glad my boss hates it as well, because otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd be looking for three IN ADDITION to my two direct reports.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

It is. It is too bad my boss does not decide my raise (or even know my salary).

I am actually not certain if we are getting raises. If we are, it will be effective on Wednesday. We usually get a letter detailing the raise, and I haven't gotten one. I wasn't at the last all staff meeting, so maybe they talked about it there and let us know that there were no raises.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The people with whom I both work a lot and am confident would give me a good grade are pretty senior, so probably overwhelmed with reviews themselves.

Ask them anyway.

Thank you, brenda! I think you are better at leaning in than I am.

Oh yeah, same.

We are in the process of handing off projects and people have been saying to me, "I will learn from the master!" when I say that I'm comfortable chasing down leadership.

And I don't know what to do with that. Because I guess I have gotten reasonably good at it, but it's because I'm like that cartoon with the dog sitting in a room on fire going, "This is fine."

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm watching sparrows hopping around the backyard. There are several just-fledged youngsters, which I can tell because they're spending more time chasing the adults around and doing the flutter-beg than pecking at possible bugs.

One of my passengers yesterday was named Eunique! (OK, without the exclamation point.) And she totally lived up to it, in a non-crazy, non-weird way. Yet another fun encounter via Uber.

My problem now is I get so many "favors" from these folks (i.e., the stuff that is critical to my job, but relatively minor to theirs) that I hate to add one more thing.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I had to rescue Mr Peabody from a small empty shipping box today. I accidentally knocked it off the table and it fell in the middle of his path to the door. I found him making pitiful little growls at it. It was maybe 6 inches high. He can jump at least four feet high.
