Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Timelies all!
My shoulders have been sore all day. First it was just one, then the other started hurting too. It seems to be muscle soreness, so I will slather myself with Ben-Gay and try not to be molested by Nova.(Ben-Gay affects her like catnip, but x 10. Cats is weird.)
Also Kane and Toews beards are awful! They should not grow beards!
I love their awful awful playoff beards so much! I also think this tradition is hilarious for people who only tune in during the Cup finals, and therefore only see hockey players in full lumberjack hipster mode.
Ha, that's great about Darby's mojo. I think it's awesome how deeply superstitious we all are. BUT IT WORKS. So.
That's a great story about Mrs. Timonen. He was really a high point for me last night.
Yeah, I'm thinking also my health may improve now that playoff season eating is over.
And yes, shrift, I think possibly looping you in on your own transfer might be eventually necessary.
I started using a Fitbit yesterday. I walked 9000 steps for the day, about 7000 of them just in my building.
I only manage around 2000 a day.
Did a bit more today because I went to lunch and then did errands after work. If the risk of spending money wasn't so high, I would go "shopping" more to increase my walking. I kinda hate walking around my neighborhood or driving to a park to walk alone.
I hate driving somewhere to exercise. Even the gym. It offends my sensibilities in some deep-seated way that I haven't fully explored. Fortunately, I have a nice waterfront to walk along nearby, and paved trails further afield (that would take me to the gym, even). I will drive to get Walter to a place where he can run off-leash, because he definitely cannot just go out my front door. And I'll drive to participate in a race or suchlike.

Nah, she'll just intuit when she needs to move across the country.
About 2000 steps for me today. Over 10,000 yesterday and I did not meet my Daily Goal for the day according to my phone.
I want to finally start using my fitbit after the baby is born, but I'm afraid it is going to tell me I'm a failure because I don't walk enough. There really isn't a setting for, "I'm disabled and really this is good for me", as far as I could tell.
I feel like a champ when I get 3000 steps on the Fitbit, even though it tells me I should be getting 10,000 steps. I ignore it and feel good anyway. I have a treadmill set up comfortably in front of a television in my office, so there's really no excuse for not getting in a mile or two a day, except waaahhh.
There's a nice park across the street, but when it's this hot? I'm not going outside unless I have to. The heat exhausts me and the humidity triggers my asthma, so, no. Treadmill instead, in the nice cool office.
You can change the goal settings upward or downward to reflect what your particular needs are. You might not get as many rah rah badges at a lower setting, but at least the main dashboard doesn't have to make you feel lousy.
Thanks, d. I'll keep that in mind.
Connie, for right on the beach in Venice, I'd give airbnb a look. May find a deal there. You also might want to look at something like Playa del Rey, just south of Venice. Quieter and more local, so maybe less tourists means more affordable motels?
