I hate driving somewhere to exercise. Even the gym. It offends my sensibilities in some deep-seated way that I haven't fully explored. Fortunately, I have a nice waterfront to walk along nearby, and paved trails further afield (that would take me to the gym, even). I will drive to get Walter to a place where he can run off-leash, because he definitely cannot just go out my front door. And I'll drive to participate in a race or suchlike.
And yes, shrift, I think possibly looping you in on your own transfer might be eventually necessary.
Nah, she'll just intuit when she needs to move across the country.
About 2000 steps for me today. Over 10,000 yesterday and I did not meet my Daily Goal for the day according to my phone.
I want to finally start using my fitbit after the baby is born, but I'm afraid it is going to tell me I'm a failure because I don't walk enough. There really isn't a setting for, "I'm disabled and really this is good for me", as far as I could tell.
I feel like a champ when I get 3000 steps on the Fitbit, even though it tells me I should be getting 10,000 steps. I ignore it and feel good anyway. I have a treadmill set up comfortably in front of a television in my office, so there's really no excuse for not getting in a mile or two a day, except waaahhh.
There's a nice park across the street, but when it's this hot? I'm not going outside unless I have to. The heat exhausts me and the humidity triggers my asthma, so, no. Treadmill instead, in the nice cool office.
You can change the goal settings upward or downward to reflect what your particular needs are. You might not get as many rah rah badges at a lower setting, but at least the main dashboard doesn't have to make you feel lousy.
Thanks, d. I'll keep that in mind.
Connie, for right on the beach in Venice, I'd give airbnb a look. May find a deal there. You also might want to look at something like Playa del Rey, just south of Venice. Quieter and more local, so maybe less tourists means more affordable motels?
I've got 17,500 steps in today because it was lovely and so I walked home from work. But now I'm super tired and I'm going to spend the next couple of hours watching TV and drinking lemony vodka cocktails with my feet up.
Edit: Actually, before I get into the vodka, I'm having some ice cream, god damn it.
I thought I recalled Banana Bungalow having a beach-adjacent hostel from my PBP trips, but it looks liek the only have Hollywood and West Hollywood locations nowadays
I'm not getting much walking outside of work, besides grocery shopping. My new parking situation prohibits it. I got the cheapest lot near the hospital, it's a park and ride which has a shuttle to take you directly to your door. It wouldn't take much to get that last 1000 steps, if I put any effort into it at all. But I am lazy.
