Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I think all of Grace's stuff should be paid for except a $50 copay. I'm not sure if it's $50 copay to each entity or overall. And because of the nursing issue/medi-cal issue we had Grace has already reached her deductible so.... maybe not?
Anyhow, -t, no worries about bringing it up.
meara, how awesome! I still can't imagine jumping out of a plane.
I just got back from Wal-Mart because all of our coolers broke on this last trip and we need a six-can one for Grace's food. The Stanley coolers are amazing, but really really expensive. I want one, but WAY expensive.
Kat, I'm so glad most of that is covered. (Insert here standard rant about why don't we have universal health care.)
meara, I'm almost jealous except I don't think I could jump out of a plane. OTOH, my climbing partner teaches paragliding and has invited me to go with her sometime. I'm thinking about it...
So I went running this morning, and discovered that today is basically Yard Sale Day in my neighborhood. I was tempted by a solid ash bureau, but it's smaller than I need and $150 to boot. So I won't.
So far I have run; done a load of laundry and hung it to dry; started another load; stripped the bed; walked the dogs; done the dishes; cooked bacon/kale/egg for breakfast.
Now I have to do some yard work before it gets hot, and then go to the household hazardous waste drop-off site to dump a bunch of batteries, lightbulbs, and paint cans. And then the grocery store & library.
My day off is not relaxing!
Today we go and look at tiles for our bathroom floor, as the tiles are cracking and coming up in chunks. Not good. We were originally planning on retiling everything, and we had a great time looking at tiles and planning how it would look. Sadly, we realized that we don't have enough $$ for that, so the task is to find floor tiles which go with the present 70s beige tiles and will also go with our future white subway tiles.

Everything like the whole house, or everything like the walls and floor of the bathroom both?
There was really not time to consider saying no, on the jumping--you're strapped to an instructor and we really didn't pause in the doorway at all--you scoot towards it and are supposed to get in position, but as I was thinking "ack, there's all this wind and nothing to hang on to and I'm not able to....AHHH WE ARE FALLING!" Oddly, I HAAAATED the freefall part (too much wind blowing in my face, too fast) but liked the parachute part, but my coworker was the opposite.

Ooh, that's pretty awesome! Also scary. But awesome.
Coworker and I have decided we need to plan to DO SHIT. So today we are going blueberry picking, and we plan to take stand up paddleboard classes at some point in August here.
Later tonight I have two dates...wish me luck that the timing doesn't go horribly wrong! (I'm not super enthused or hopeful about the actual DATES going well, but would feel much less awkward if I'm able to show up on time and all that jazz)
And a bit of -ma for my sister and BIL, who had an interview yesterday for some kids they want to foster to adopt? Apparently it's them vs one other couple.
So taking your own hardware and software to interviews isn't weird? How does it normally go down?

All I can picture is some Three's Company-esque scenario where Jack Tripper managed to make dates with 2 different women at the same time and so he had to run back and forth between tables at the Regal Beagle and try to keep them from finding out.
I hope your dates are less sitcom-y.
Skydiving and almost immediately two dates in one night? You are living on the edge, meara! Good luck to your sister.
Mmm, tile.
So taking your own hardware and software to interviews isn't weird?
Seems weird to me, but I don't know that I've had those sorts of interviews, actually. So.
It seems super weird to me.
I hope your dates are less sitcom-y.
I mean, for meara's sake, I hope that... but not for our sake!
I am secretly hoping for an Abed-style meara-meets-a-third-person-who-is-a-better-match situation, frankly.
First attempt at deviled eggs with my new disposable bags and fancy decorating tips a success! Pancetta got stuck in the tip, and I thought I had the largest one, so in the future I will try it with the coupler and no tip. This time, just cutting a slightly bigger hole and using just the bag, no tip, was fine. And I love the clear disposable bags.
So taking your own hardware and software to interviews isn't weird?
That seems REALLY weird to me. Being asked for samples, sure. Bringing your own equipment and creating something for the interviewer? No, I've never run into that.
