I got an email last night that one of the jobs I interviewed for is at the committee stage, so I should know soon if they're going to offer it to me.
The news after the basketball game led with an officer-involved shooting in my neighborhood. I hope to god they didn't kill someone. It will not be pretty. (The reporter didn't have more details, because it happened about 45 minutes ago. So far the reporter said an officer did discharge his gun, and the police confirmed the shots did "take effect" [actual quote from the reporter]. I assume "take effect" means someone got shot. I really, really hope no one was killed.)

Word on the neighborhood's online bulletin board is that the police did kill someone. Right across the street from the Catholic church (1/2 mile from our house).
I can't stay up to monitor the news, but I'm worried about what I'm going to wake up to.

Stranger things I've said: I hope your shooting was under extreme duress and valid threat. And question all of those adjectives (not funny, autocorrect , for offering badges when I started typing. Badges are suspect even in my world)

That's what I'm hoping so hard. I know that there are situations in which police officers have to shoot. I know that. (I also know I'm preaching to the choir here. I'm pretty much just trying to reassure myself enough to sleep.) I just hope this was one of those situations.
And then, even if it was, I don't know if that'll be sufficient, especially if the person who was shot was a black person (this neighborhood is probably 40% black, and, to be honest, I'll be stunned if the person who was shot was white).
Ugh. Yes, the suspect was killed. No information on their identity, other than that the suspect was male. One news report says the suspect had a gun, but another doesn't mention anything about a gun.
The charge is aggravated menacing, which happens to be what Tamir Rice was charged with in Cleveland, so I don't feel really great about this right now.

Sorry to disappear, I was shuffling kids to bed, and then talking to my sis. But his hand got caught in a lawn mower. The kind of lawn mower that you drive. I'm sure it was pretty awful, and they live in a remote area, hence the need for the air lift. Also a big ugh
