"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Glad you're ok, Gar.

askye, what drives me nuts is especially about that latter phrase, in context it's talking about resisting temptation...I.e, God doesn't give you more temptation than you can handle. So, you should be able to manage the not sinning, is the implication. Not God doesn't give you more struggle or suffering than you can handle, he does that all the dang time, Stephen got stoned to death and that was perfectly ok with God, so when armchair evangelicals use it to say buck up, or to bemoan some petty annoyance in their lives, it's wholly eyerolly. Instead they should be using it to challenge their own inner lives and work on becoming better people, if they were paying attention to context,

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That doesn't sound weird to me at all, Matt. Funerals and memorials are one of the few things that brings old friends back together. It's one of the gifts that comes with grief.

I think I'd have been more comfortable with it if I were grieving myself, but I barely knew the deceased and went mainly to show respect to my ex roomie and his sister. Ah well, we did apparently lighten his mood reminiscing about old times, so I'll count that as a win.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, Southwest is having a fare sale that I think ends tonight. Should I just buy a ticket to New Orleans??? I've been thinking about fall vacation, so why not? I've never been.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yes. Go.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Have they just started threading comments? Annoying that I'm having to click through to comments on my own GD post.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

GO JESSE! I saw the same sale, and if I had the dosh, I'd buy a ticket to NOLA so fast your head would swim.

DO THE THING, JESSE.

In other news, I am hitting a wall of tired. I have been enormously productive today already, so maybe I can coast for a few more hours before I pack it in.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I made a post this morning and forgot to hit Post, and now it doesn't matter. Except, glad you're okay, Gar!

It's almost chilly, and still raining. I like it.

The birds are back in my exhaust vent, as if I didn't already pay someone $75 to remove them and block off the outside vent opening. Good job, sir. Now I have to find someone else and pay more money. I don't mind having to pay to get shit done for my house; I mind having to keep doing it because the first people I hired were incompetent.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Should I just buy a ticket to New Orleans???

October is a great time of year to visit NOLA. Weather is no longer extremely hot, but still warm enough to be considered summery in many places.
