Man, you just get darker and darker, and the weird thing is, your aura? Beige.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

When the Cornish game hen rolled out of my grocery bag and under the front seat, the odor went away pretty quickly after I finally located the source. You could try leaving some open containers of baking soda in the car.

I finally managed to get my hands on the unscented Febreeze at Target recently. I am violently allergic to the standard Febreeze scent. Did y'all know that Febreeze as originally invented removed odors and was unscented, but they did focus groups and nobody wanted it because it didn't make the air smell "fresh," i.e., scented.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My mother has this problem with her cleaning person -- she doesn't use chemical cleaners, so the house doesn't have that "clean" smell when she's done. My mother is dealing with it.

So someone on my neighborhood Nextdoor site just put up a thing about a discussion group of The Sopranos, "for intellectuals." Even though I'm about to watch the first season finale for the first time tonight, I don't want to join that group, right? I am skeptical of people who self-identify as intellectuals.

Ooo, unscented Febreze. I despise the artificial scents of things. The fake florals are nauseating.

Ok, I guess I'm really not swimming tonight: one storm cell just reversed direction and is coming back. Whole pattern has gone all swirly.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Is it really truly unscented? That would be great. Regular Febreeze makes me feel like something with claws is trying to get out of my sinuses.

hip deep in pie

So I've found some 2nd hand Fluevog boots for $70 US, but the shipper says it's going to cost $50 US to ship them to me from Montana. WTF?

Zen, I have the unscented stuff and it doesn't leave a smell. But I think it took two applications to get the slight funky smell out of my sofa.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

My 3rd-floor apartment has a small (10' x 8') wooden deck, made (I think) of pine. I done use it much -- it's pretty old, and is showing its age. When I first moved in, almost seven years ago, I noticed some patches of moss and decided to let them grow, see what happens. There are also some patches of lichen, which I decided to let grow, see what happens.

Today I noticed a new volunteer. One of this Spring's maple seeds found just the right spot between two planks -- and germinated: [link]

I think I'll let it grow, see what happens.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It can give you a false positive, but I think that's a good instinct in general. I think saying the group was for intellectual discussion rather than being for intellectual people having the discussion would make me feel better about it.

Good luck with the change, Sail!

Ooh, I am definitely taking note of that vanilla extract idea. I like the smell of vanilla and what with on thing and another there are always less pleasant scents here and there that I can't seem to entirely get rid of.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh, that looks familiar, dcp. On the deck at our old house, I had to police the boards about twice a month, pulling up grass and tree volunteers. We had huge willow oaks and resulting drifts of the flowers in spring, and the leaves in fall. Invariably, some seeds would take root. We had pecans, too, and between the tiny acorns and the pecans, dozens of resident squirrels who took the deck as a bridge between trees, stopping to drink at one of the fountains. I had to police my planters, too, or I'd have had an entire oak and pecan forest.

Cool, dcp. Best case scenario - treehouse!
