Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Heading to Pittsburgh for a convention tomorrow. Will pack later.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Love the bedheads on both too.

That's Misha's fandom trademark.

I guess I was worried Colin's choices of things to show Misha would make me look like a mad fangirl, and then I remember the mad fangirls Misha actually cultivates, so one drawing and a cushion do not make me standout.

I better eat that last cookie soon. Thank dog chocolate isn't a trigger.

Yay glasses! Boo bedbugs!

I'm watching Extreme Weightloss and I am once again realizing I have no idea how big people are or how I am in relation. Like, I never ever would've guessed this woman weighs 315. But then I see other people IRL and realize I am probably bigger than them, and startled. (There's this one dance teacher whose boyfriend who teaches with her is huge, and I thought of her as being plus-sized and liked that--like, she is not a skinny minnie like so many of the other good dancers. But then I saw them again in class and she's probably my size. Only with more chest. And I'm like "Wait, has she lost weight, or did I just remember her as being big???")

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hooray for found glasses and cookies and Misha!

Glad you are figuring out how to manage your blood sugar as the situation keeps changing on you, Typo. Can you get more guidance on when to drop your insulin dose from professionals or a support group or something?

I might be too tired to stay awake the rest of the day watching reality TV.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I got my glasses. Yay!

We can once again hail you as a visionary.

ita, that's adorable.

We're pulling code from the build. Or rather, implementing the hailmary configs we put in place for emergency rollback/ parallel ops. The major project for which we've been angsting over for the last year will slip. The failover servers didn't, the backups were corrupt and missing data when they did restore, and no one fucking knows what happened a week later. It's such a cluster fuck that I put squarely on IT not approaching this project with the urgency and importance we kept telling them. We've got another huge code and hardware change coming that cannot slip because of this. Thank god we have different IT teams for that.

I feel bad for the project manager- this really can't be laid at her feet...and now she's gonna leave on maternity leave and come back next spring and it still might not be implemented.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Had going-away drinks for my staff person after work, and thank goodness, this was not a time that people stay out late! Because usually in work-social settings I'm the one who leaves early. Perfect.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

sarameg, that's double plus ungood. Are heads going to roll?

sarameg - Jul 24, 2014 3:35:17 pm PDT #2779 of 30000

Possibly. It might just be one of those one off catastrophic failures, but if it can happen in test, which is nowhere near as loaded as production will be, big issue. Even human error would be better, but since they were trying to backwards engineer the servers since no one was really sure how they had been built and configured !?!WTF!?!? and they need the same conditions to replicate and diag the problem...clearly some practices need changing. There probably will be a come to Jesus meeting with that team and the mission office.
