I kind of want to buy the Internet a drink,,, or a pizza for the non-drinkers. That's silly right.

Not silly at all! Buy the world a Coke! You go girl!

I haven't done it, for a few reasons but mainly because I hate how I look in a swimsuit. If I ever lose 40 pounds, maybe I'll do it.

I'm so sad to hear that. Tubing is awesome!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I will say, I find being around lots of people in bathing suits to be the best thing -- there are lots of people of all shapes and sizes out there! Many of them in bikinis!

I got an invite for a speed networking event later this month. How quickly did I decline that? So quickly, you guys.

I can believe France doesn't have ADHD. I mean, if there is a diagnosis standard that makes it impossible to be diagnosed with it, then there must be none, right? If there is no WORD for something then the thing refuses to exist until the name brings it to light? Like if had no word for the flu or colds, people would stop having them?

Yeah, the same guy on FB commented that "ADD didn't exist until it was created for the DSM2."

Because without a name for it, it just didn't exist. Right. (Seriously, that makes me so full of raaaaaaaaage.)

And then he goes on to say the US should follow France's example and "put down the pills" and change the diets of kids with ADD and be stricter parents and things would be better.

Okay, (1) I thought France "didn't have" ADD, so how is there even a non-pharmaceutical treatment protocol IF THEY DON'T HAVE IT???, and (2) my husband, who was unmedicated until he was in his 30s, vehemently disagrees that he needed a different diet and stricter parents. What the shit.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I fucking hate that article. Such bullshit.

brillig

I do think what some people call ADD is actually the typical kid energy that used to be burned off with running around. Now that kids don't get let out to just burn off steam, I think a lot of that energy is being directed inwards to poor effect.

Steph, would your anti-vaxxer fFB riend like to have my best friend's two ADD teenagers come stay with him sans Ritalin for a few days? I guarantee he'll believe in the existence of ADD by the time they leave.

I think if they ever get a shock from it, they'll stop, but I hope you can find a way to discourage them before they get a shock. I'm surprised and lucky that my cats don't do that, as much as they like to chase after things that look like snakes/worms.

I think I may buy a ghost pepper and smear its juice along the cable. At least they chewed up the DC line; if they'd tried the AC cord running into the adapter I might have one fewer cat.

Hell, all he'd need is unmedicated Tim for a few days.

Yeah, I definitely find that to be the case. Really, when I figured out that the only person who gives a shit about how I look in a bathing suit was me, I tried to let that go so I didn't miss out on fun stuff in life like tubing. It's a process, but it starts with trying.
