Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
meara, having just gone through the stress of watching a cat not eat, I'd recommend canned tuna, as that is tempting to even pretty unhappy kitties, and some of that high calorie supplement just to make sure the kitten is getting enough calories. It's called NutriCal (although there are probably other brands) and you basically get a fingerful across the roof of his mouth and he'll eat it. Poor little kitty!
And yay Jesse for middle aged lady cat! I'm so glad she found you.
Steph, even being in the position of support is hard, or it can be.
Ooh, I would be super into that (bonus: If you come soon, tiny black kitten!!)
Let me check with Plei, and see what schedules look like. It would prolly be beginning of June? (DISNEYLAND NEXT WEEK.)
New kitty for Jesse! Yaay!
Oh, Steph, that's just heartbreaking. Much ~ma to you and all your bereaved friends and family.
Yay for Jesse and her new cat, and a big rainbow YAY for Ireland!
Eat, tiny kitten of meara! Food good! Trader Joe's carries Tuna for Cats that's extra stinky and cats tend IME to love it. He might go for something super-smelly. Maybe his little nose is congested and he can't smell very well. My Percy has that problem sometimes.
Allow me to share a little gem I came across last night: "Motivation comes from the gut, not the brain." I'm going to go see if my gut can motivate me to clean out my bedroom closet. Because my brain has been failing at motivation lately.
Just woke from an unplanned 90 min nap. Very deep sleep, I'm still a little sleep confused. Messed up the plans for the day, but ehn.
Welp, I thought today would be a good opportunity to curl up in the hammock and read, which meant pulling the hammock stand and hammock out of the shed where I had (for once) put them for the winter. As I set them up I noticed that the rope was looking a little frayed and vaguely wondered how much longer it would last. As soon as I got myself settled, of course, the rope broke. Ouch.
Remote push notifications are kind of its core responsibility. You had ONE JOB, Quakes!
billytea, that was apparently a very effective scolding, Quakes is notifying me now. If I could figure out how to limit the area it was notifying me about that would be nice, but what it's doing now will work well enough.
Had a guy with a GPS tracking ankle bracelet in my car today! Not a smooth operator like Neil from that show, more a loveable screwup type. You meet all types in this job, yo.
Yesterday was my first payday in 10 months. It was amazing, not so much in the amount (this job is a 20% pay cut from my previous one), but in the idea that, barring unexpected drama, the same thing will happen on June 25. And July 25. I can make plans! I can (and must) budget! I don't have to cut Blue Cross a check personally, which is a huge plus for my bank statement right there. I'm going to get paid to do nothing on Monday. I'm pretty sure I did nothing on the last Monday of March, but no one paid me for it.
I've got major problems with how the US handles the social safety net, the capitalist idea that your worth = your productivity, and any number of other issues around work and society. But damn, I'm glad I finally have a job. And so far the job itself and the people I work with have been great! I'm sending so much job~ma into the ether for all the job hunting Buffistas. I hope you get something that makes you smile as much as I have the past few days.
Steph, that is lot in a week.
Yay new cat! Yay gay Ireland!
Meara, my vet suggested having a syringe full of water and squirt a bit down their throat. It forces them to swallow.
Oz seems to have diarrhea again. He had it last weekend too. I don't know if it's his real food, (I recently switched his foods.) or if it's something he's eating outside. Otherwise, here hoping he keeps it in the box! Unlike last weekend.
