I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Women used to be able to relieve themselves in the wild, too, when they wore layers of floor-length skirts and no underwear. Oh yes.

This was the reason my great great grandmother gave for never wearing shorter skirts or underwear. She cherished her ability to squat in a field.

I don't know what I'm going to feed myself for dinner. Nothing I have to hand sounds appealing, but neither does going to the store. Hm.

I figured out how to make passable pho ga, so that is what I am making for dinner tonight.

I might be able to put together some kind of peanutty noodle thing? Worth a try.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I made cucumber sandwiches. We've reached the hot and humid stage in NC, and cucumber sandwiches are perfect.

It's a real pain in the ass to discover you must've spilled dish soap on your grody basement mop when you are trying to bleach down the floor. I was not expecting foaming. And now I have a shitton of dirty rags to run through a sanitize cycle. But hey, at least I can do that now and not have it all regurgitated out of the basement flush!

Debating trying root treatment stuff as a preventative. I don't want to kill the source of the roots (unless it is the ivy, then I'd happily pour napalm down my drains) and I don't know how effective it truly is.... OTOH, I can just schedule a snaking whenever it starts acting up rather than waiting for full stoppage. This started couple three weeks ago and I thought it was under control all last week. And then near complete blockage. So next time... I'll call earlier.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I meant to put my hummingbird feeder up last weekend, but didn't get around to it.

A little while ago a hummingbird flew up to where the feeder was supposed to be, circled around a couple times, peered through the sliding glass door at me, then flew off.

There was nothing hummingbird-attractive within 50 yards of my feeder location. I think this was a hummingbird who has visited me in previous years and remembered where to get a meal.

The feeder is up now. Perhaps he'll be back.

When the feeder is empty, I have a couple of doves that wait until I'm outside to alight, peck noisily on the ditch, and, I swear, turn to look at me for reaction. And when I dutifully come out with a refill, they only go as far as the nearest wire until I step back from the railing.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I was at a different Kaiser facility than usually does my labs. I think of them as incompetent, but it seemed easier. When I went in, I said, "I mainly need the CBC," and she said, "What about the other labs your doctor ordered?" I said, "Okay, but I don't need the big chem panel. I had that last week." Guess what she didn't run? Now I have to go back out in the morning, and it will probably delay the transfusion I know I need.

So irritated.

I was never impressed by the organizational skills of the cancer facilities. It always seemed they were working off a checklist of standard treatment and being baffled by the actual human in front of them.
