I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Thats great, ita!

That's less great, Jess and Sue.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I could not get into the Harkness book. I tried to read the first one twice, and got about 50 pages in each time. But YBookMV.

ION, D got an interview offer at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA. Any PA people know anything about the work environs, or like bennies or salary? Neither of us are remotely interested in gambling, but from what I understand, resort or hotel employees get really good deals on hotels in other cities?

I think we have a realtor, and it seems like he wants to show the house to investors, like to flip the house. It makes sense, because we would have to do a bunch of stuff to the house to sell it to a family -- and if we had the money to do that in the first place we would have fixed the central air, the hole in the kitchen roof, the missing SLABS of brick on the front stoop, etc.

So I'll be doing a fuckton of cleaning and decluttering to make the house show ready and staged? They said they'd prefer to show it if we were out of here but we just kind of laughed at them.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I could not get into the Harkness book.

I just picked it up on a whim because I couldn't find either of the books I wanted at the library. But here I am, working through book two.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Contra Costa, Burrell. He's been sitting on various non-profit boards that interact with these guys and kind of slid into it sideways.

That sounds promising, Strix. Good luck!

-t, apparently my dad is back on the county water board. Let's hear it for our dads' second/third/fifth careers!

I'm pretty much certain he's always going to be running something outside the house in retirement. I knew he was never going to be the leisurely retired guy. Oh, and he's a LWV volunteer now after accompanying my mom to a meeting where she got appointed cochair of something.

I'm glad. Couple years ago he pretty much backed off everything because of/ possible depression caused by the maybe stroke. Not a great plan. He's been sounding happier lately and honestly, the past 2 weeks when they had the boys, he was practically gleeful.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What's the job, Strix? I mean, I've heard good things about the work from dealers in other casinos, but I'm guessing it's a different kind of position... You can't beat the location, at least!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Low glycemic chocolate oatmeal cranberry cookies cooling. It's okay to eat the whole batch today to celebrate a good interview, right?

God, this cooling period is torture. The smell.

That's what low glycemic means, right?

Mom & Dad are also heading out of town for a weekend in Lassen at least partially to avoid going to a fundraiser for one of their friends who is running for mayor. So the political career will not be all encompassing.

I suspect bigass casinos have some pretty serious Info Sec going on. (I hope!)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I should have pre-cooled the bedroom before coming up here. Alas, I used to be better at handling heat-and-humidity than this....
