Puppy-ma headed LA-ward, Pix.
My wonderful boss, who I've worked with for the past ten years, was let go today. This was not a total shock as she'd kind of been told she was being re-orged out of a job six months ago, but I'm still in a bit of a panic as I now have roughly 10 hours to learn everything she knows before I go on vacation for two weeks (her last day will be while I'm gone). I do have her home cell and permission to call any time, but still. Ack Ack Ack. (And the person who will most likely be my new boss is...problematic, to say the least.)
Yikes, Sue! Other yikes, Jess!
That's a lot of yikes.
My interview went well, and I should have a second interview next week-that's the one with the test. Oops.
Meep, Jess! Good luck with that.
And you too, Sue. Dang.
Puppy-healt~ma continuing towards Pasadena.
My dad went and got himself elected to public office, or something like public office. LAFCo Commissioner. He just keeps starting new careers.
Yay on the interview going well!
I'm so sorry, Pix. Scrappy speaks true, puppy is luckly to have you. Hope she gets better soon.
And you too, Sue! I didn't get hand-foot-mouth, but my babes did. Not fun, but it will pass. Much ~ma and rest in the meantime.
Bummer about the stressful, bad news, Jessica. I'm sure your wonderful boss will land on her feet, as will you.
Has anyone else read the Deborah Harkness books? I've gotten sucked in, as they are the academic version of good, fun trash. Think A.S. Byatt, or more like Stephanie Meyers by way of A.S. Byatt.
Glad to hear the interview went well, ita. Fingers crossed for #2.

What county? My old MS friend just did the same thing. Plus she's gotten way into community organizing. Kinda cool.
Thats great, ita!
That's less great, Jess and Sue.
I could not get into the Harkness book. I tried to read the first one twice, and got about 50 pages in each time. But YBookMV.
ION, D got an interview offer at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA. Any PA people know anything about the work environs, or like bennies or salary? Neither of us are remotely interested in gambling, but from what I understand, resort or hotel employees get really good deals on hotels in other cities?
I think we have a realtor, and it seems like he wants to show the house to investors, like to flip the house. It makes sense, because we would have to do a bunch of stuff to the house to sell it to a family -- and if we had the money to do that in the first place we would have fixed the central air, the hole in the kitchen roof, the missing SLABS of brick on the front stoop, etc.
So I'll be doing a fuckton of cleaning and decluttering to make the house show ready and staged? They said they'd prefer to show it if we were out of here but we just kind of laughed at them.
I could not get into the Harkness book.
I just picked it up on a whim because I couldn't find either of the books I wanted at the library. But here I am, working through book two.
