This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

My folks are here. Tomorrow is the party for my great-aunt's 100th birthday.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

2.5 hour drive to Mattituck, 3.5 hour drive back. I don't know if it was because I'd decided to go through Staten Island on the Narrows rather than across town to the Holland Tunnel, or just afternoon weekend traffic.

I'd been hoping to peruse the leftover selection of plants to add, but fate thwarted my weak willpower when it comes to plant shopping and the rented van was full with the original order; passenger seat, footwell, and middle floor included! Now that the plants are here, I'm less excited and willing to head up to NH to visit my mom, which is so wrong. But I want to start planting my garden!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Wow, that's quite an accomplishment Sheryl.

brillig

I made enchiladas again, and this time I've conquered the onerous task of shredding the chicken, and it's thanks to my pharmacist! He suggested I use the food processor to shred it, which seems obvious, but I hadn't done it, so I guess it's not that obvious. I have a small processor. so I did it in batches and only a few pulses at a time so I didn't get chicken crumbs. Worked beautifully! I predict easier egg salad in my future!

House clean, hanging baskets on the front porch planted ( red geraniums in one, red, yellow and purple super bells in the other.) wanted to do the wire cat pots, but HomeDespot didn't have what I wanted. I'm heading to the awesome nursery tomorrow morning, so that will get taken care of. This was a thwarted swim impulse, HD is much closer.

And then I took apart and epoxied a bunch of my jar lights because I discovered the hot glue solution doesn't hold up to solar heat.

Still managing without AC. Still cools off at night, which is key. But vacuuming in 80f? Uhg.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Completely failed at making today go like I wanted it to. Blaming it on hormonal fluctuations as a better option than character flaws. Also a good excuse to have wine & cheese & chocolate for dinner.

Totally forgot Courtney Love was on Revenge. Pretty effective last scene this last episode.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I have managed to get both my sons obsessed with Goat Simulator.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Thanks, y'all. I'm speculating that there was a data leak at the company that handled my previous employer's payments and W-2s. My CPA said that three other clients had had the same thing happen, and she's just running a small, 2-person business.

I kinda want to punch the perpetrator in the genitals, but I'll settle for siccing the IRS on them.

Today's been all about the cleaning. I vacuumed, scrubbed various bathroom surfaces, and swept the porch. I also weeded, but that's more satisfying than onerous for me. Tomorrow I can do laundry and watch the forecast thunderstorms roll over. I love a good thunderstorm.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Woo, yard work! Moved some lilies of the valley and other misc. to the front yard, swept up most of the maple pollen and flowers from the driveway. Now I'm ready for lunch.
