Having a hard time. Puppy is sick. We thought upper respiratory infection, which is still possible. Could also be distemper, which would likely be fatal. If you have any good thoughts or spells or prayers or whatever you do to spare, I'd appreciate them. I really don't want to spend the rest of my summer watching a puppy die.

In other news of fuckity fuck fuck, I got an FB message from my SIL late last night. My brother's b-day is this weekend. He's been super down and depressed for a long time, but she is now saying he's also got a serious alcohol problem, suicidal thoughts, and probably needs rehab. And she's in Moscow for the next month.
We knew he was in a deep funk, because he gets super avoidy and won't answer calls or messages. But this has me super worried, obv. I'm trying to figure out if I can go out there this weekend - alone on his birthday amid all of this seems Very Bad.

My generic Dayquil is wearing off. On the one hand: that's good as it seems to confirm that it's helping with my symptoms. On the other: argh, I forgot to bring additional doses with me and now I know I could feel better.

Shadow and I are negotiating the revised occupation of the bed at night. I've shifted over to the middle, but I'm apparently encroaching on his favored pillow area. Granted, I'm the human, he's the cat, but he knows how to pluck at things at 3 AM in order to wake the human up. And he's always slept in the bed, so it behooves me to see his side of things. I've apparently covered up the section where he wants to sleep, so I'm going to have to rearrange things. Because having a purring cat wrapped around my arm is a good way to a good night's sleep.

Oh man, brenda. It does sound like it would be great if you can get down there. Is he acknowledging this stuff, or is your SIL extrapolating? That seems like it would make a big difference. Good luck to all of you guys.
